Ratatouille Ride coming to Epcot’s France Pavilion and More News You Need!

Welcome to the News You Need! June brought us tons of news that will affect DVC members and Disney Parks guests alike, and so much of it’s exciting! Let’s find out what’s happening in the world of Disney vacationing!

The Pool is OPEN! – Disneyland’s Grand Californian is undergoing extensive renovation and the most recent area to reopen is the newly redesigned pool area. With three pools all having gotten fresh updates, guests at Grand Cali are sure to find a favorite place to splash down. Renovations on guest rooms and other common areas are still in progress, but are expected to be completed by the end of the year. Thank you to WDWInfo.com for the use of this photo.

Order your food from your phone. Mobile order and pay is coming soon to Walt Disney World restaurants Tomorrowland Terrace Restaurant, Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Café, Pinocchio Village Haus, Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn & Café and Columbia Harbour House. Order and pay with My Disney Experience and get your food from a no-wait bay at each restaurant! (You can already do this at the Canteen in Pandora!) Guests who have used the systems that are already in place report having had a great experience with reduced wait times.

Dessert party inception! Tomorrowland Terrace dessert party bookings are now available for Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party and Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. Guests with party tickets may choose to add the dessert parties on for an additional charge and special fireworks viewing.

A lighthouse for Lane It’s been one year since Lane Thomas was attacked by an alligator. After his tragic death, Lane’s family formed the Lane Thomas Foundation to support other families in times of tragedy. In honor of Lane and the Foundation’s work, Walt Disney World will place a lighthouse sculpture on the Grand Floridian’s beach, “To provide continued awareness of the foundation and its mission.” The sculpture will be placed this summer.

New rooms debut at Pop Century Queen-size beds, USB outlets, see-through fridge doors and…no carpet? Huge changes have comes to the newly remodeled rooms at Pop Century that suggest housekeeping-friendly and guest-friendly ideas were at the top of the designers’ minds. The new rooms now have queen beds instead of doubles and tons of amenities that include easy-to-clean laminate flooring, updated refrigerators, USB outlets in the walls, and the triple-sheet bedding being used resort-wide. If this is a sneak-peek of things to come for the values, we’re excited to see the rest! Photo by WDWNT.

Dessert party inception! Alcoholic beverages are included in the 2018 dining plans at Walt Disney World! For Guests 21 and older, beer, wine and cocktails will be available, and also included for all ages will be non-alcoholic specialty beverages, such as milkshakes, smoothies and premium hot chocolate. Speciality and alcoholic drink entitlements will be limited to one per meal, and you will not be able to use snack entitlements for alcoholic beverages.

Ratatouille comes to Epcot? This week, permits were filed at Walt Disney World for major work on the France pavilion that would suggest the addition of a ride like the one in Disneyland Paris featuring Remy and friends from Ratatouille. Theme park enthusiasts think the addition of the ride is part of a much bigger overall plan to revitalize Epcot in time for the park’s 40th anniversary. Stay tuned for more news as plans develop!
