Why Purchase Resale DVC Points?

The biggest pro to purchasing a DVC contract on the resale market is saving thousands of dollars. By purchasing a resale contract instead of buying directly through Disney, you can save up to 70%! However, besides the huge savings, there are a few practical reasons why owning resale points may work well for you.
You Get the Same Wonderful Accommodations
At the core of any DVC contract, direct or resale, is the ability to stay at wonderful DVC Resorts for years to come! While there are some restrictions on resale points, you still get to stay at the same beautiful DVC accommodations for less. DVC Resorts are home to some of the best rooms that Disney has to offer, and when you have resale points, you get to book these incredible spaces, from the comfortable Deluxe Studios to unique accommodations like the Cascade Cabins at Copper Creek or Bora Bora Bungalows at the Polynesian.

Lower Cost Can Mean More Points for Less
Since resale contracts cost significantly less than direct contacts, you can purchase more DVC points at a much lower cost. Simply put, having more DVC points gives you more flexibility and can translate into more vacations, better views like Theme Park View rooms, or larger villas so you can travel with extended family and friends and enjoy the magic of a Disney vacation together.
The Direct Perks May Not Matter
To qualify for many DVC perks that are called Membership Extras, you need to purchase a minimum of 150 DVC points directly from Disney. However, many of these benefits such as special events and discounts may not matter to everyone.
For instance, Moonlight Magic is a fun perk, but it’s difficult to get a ticket for these complimentary after-hours events with their virtual queues—if they even happen to align with your trip dates. There is high demand for the events and limited space, so the perk in actuality is just the opportunity to attend them. You are not guaranteed to get in.

Another attractive perk is discounts on dining and shopping, but there are other ways to get these discounts. For example, Annual Passholders and Disney Visa Cardholders receive 20% off merchandise at many Disney-owned-and-operated stores and 10% off most table service restaurants on Disney World property. This is comparable to what DVC Members get from their Membership Extras.
Even as a Resale Member, you still get to enjoy benefits that come with staying at a DVC Resort like Early Theme Park Entry, Extended Evening Theme Park Hours, and complimentary resort parking.
