Aulani: How Much More Can You Get with a Resale Contract?

If you’re browsing this website, you probably already know that you can save thousands of dollars on a resale DVC contract compared to buying one directly through Disney.  Beyond these savings, another way to measure the difference in value between a resale contract and a direct one is the number of points you can purchase for the same price.  To illustrate, let’s take a look at a Aulani direct contract versus a Aulani resale contract.

Why Aulani?

Many prospective DVC Members focus on the resorts at Disney World and Disneyland, but Aulani offers the natural beauty of Oahu, Hawaii combined with a touch of Disney magic.  When you stay at the majestic oceanfront resort, you get to relax in paradise whether it means floating along the lazy river, snorkeling in the private Rainbow Reef lagoon, getting pampered at Laniwai Spa, or simply walking along the white-sand beach.  

Disney took great care in blending Hawaiian culture and traditions into the design of Aulani, and you can learn more about the culture through the Māka‘ika‘i, The Art and Culture of Aulani Resort Tour, guided nature and wildlife tours, fireside storytelling, and activities such as hula, ukulele, and lei-making classes.  While you can certainly enjoy a resort-only stay at Aulani, the resort is also close to many tourist attractions, such as the Pearl Harbor memorial, and local dining gems if you’re interested in exploring more of Oahu.    

What Does an Aulani Direct Contract Cost?

As of July 2026, a direct contract at Aulani goes for $243 per point.  If looking at an average size contract of 160 points, that direct contract would cost a total of $38,880.  For that 160-point contract, you could get a weeklong stay in a Standard View or Island Gardens View Deluxe Studio at Aulani for most travel periods.

How Much Can You Save with an Aulani Resale Contract?

As of July 2026, the average price per point for an Aulani contract is $96 per point.  For a 160-point resale contract, the total cost would be $15,360.  That’s $23,520 less than the cost of a 160-point direct contract–a savings of about 60%!  

How Many More Points Can You Get By Going with a Resale Contract?

Another way to look at the difference between direct and resale is that if you were to put the $38,800 that you would have spent on a direct Aulani contract towards a resale contract instead, you could purchase a 400-point contract!  In other words, buying a resale contract instead of a direct one gets you 240 more points.

With more than twice the number of points, you can have twice the number of vacations, or you could upgrade your accommodations to something larger.  For 400 points, you could have a weeklong stay in a Poolside Gardens View One Bedroom Villa most times of the year, or you could even book a Standard View or Islands Garden View Two Bedroom Villa for certain travel periods.  

Bottom line: Buying an Aulani resale contract instead of a direct contract can save you tens of thousands of dollars or get you twice as many DVC points for longer stays or larger accommodations!
