Animal Kingdom Villas: How Much More Can You Get with a Resale Contract?

If you’re browsing this website, you probably already know that you can save thousands of dollars on a resale DVC contract compared to buying one directly through Disney.  Beyond these savings, another way to measure the difference in value between a resale contract and a direct one is the number of points you can purchase for the same price.  To illustrate, let’s take a look at a Animal Kingdom Villas direct contract versus a Animal Kingdom Villas resale contract.

Why Animal Kingdom Villas?

What other DVC home resort boasts more than 200 animals, such as giraffes, zebras, and okapi?  Animal Kingdom Villas is one of the best places to stay when you want a resort-only stay.  With the two different buildings (Jambo House and Kidani Village), there’s so much to enjoy from the incredible savannas to the more adventurous dining options at Jiko, Boma, Sanaa, and The Mara.  Plus, you get the 11-month booking window at both Jambo House and Kidani Village, which gives you more availability for booking.

Another pro of Animal Kingdom Villas is its low points chart thanks to the Value Accommodations and Resort View rooms.  The Value rooms are difficult to book but start at 7 points a night whereas the easier-to-book Resort View rooms start at 10 points a night.  Animal Kingdom Villas is also unique as the only DVC resort to offer Club Level rooms with the Kilimanjaro Club Concierge rooms.  These rooms offer access to the club lounge with light bites and drinks as well as concierge services, but are incredibly challenging to book.

With the full refurbishment starting in October 2025 for Kidani Village and May 2026 for Jambo House, Animal Kingdom Villas will soon have a refreshed design and all-new furniture, flooring, and appliances.

What Does an Animal Kingdom Villas Direct Contract Cost?

As of July 2025, a direct contract at Animal Kingdom Villas goes for $215 per point.  If looking at an average size contract of 160 points, that direct contract would cost a total of $34,400.  For that 160-point contract, you could get a weeklong stay in a Value, Resort View, or Savanna View Deluxe Studio at Animal Kingdom Villas for most travel periods.  You can even book a weeklong stay in a Value or Resort View One Bedroom Villa during some of the cheapest travel periods.

How Much Can You Save with an Animal Kingdom Villas Resale Contract?

As of July 2025, the average price per point for an Animal Kingdom Villas contract is $103 per point.  For a 160-point resale contract, the total cost would be $16,480.  That’s $17,920 less than the cost of a 160-point direct contract!  In other words, a resale Animal Kingdom Villas contract is less than half the cost of a direct one.

How Many More Points Can You Get By Going with a Resale Contract?

Another way to look at the difference between direct and resale is that if you were to put the $34,400 that you would have spent on a direct Animal Kingdom Villas contract towards a resale contract instead, you could purchase a 330-point contract!  In other words, buying a resale contract instead of a direct one could get you 170 more points–more than twice the points!

With more than twice the points, you can go on more frequent vacations, or you could upgrade to larger accommodations.  For 330 points, you could have a weeklong stay in a Savanna View One Bedroom Villa, a Value Two Bedroom Villa, or a Resort View Two Bedroom Villa most travel periods.  During the cheaper travel periods, you could even do a weeklong stay in a Kilimanjaro Club Concierge One Bedroom Villa or a Savanna View Two Bedroom Villa!

Bottom line: Buying an Animal Kingdom Villas resale contract instead of a direct contract can save you more than 50% or get you twice as many DVC points for longer stays, better views, or larger accommodations!
