What Are the Best DVC Home Resorts When You Don’t Care About the 11-Month Window?

Conventional wisdom for DVC is that it works best when you use your points to plan trips well in advance. Since DVC booking windows open up at 11-months out from check-in, that is when room availability is best. However, if you don’t have much of a preference and love staying at any of the DVC resorts, here are a few resorts you may want to consider for your home resort.
Saratoga Springs
If your main priority is availability at a DVC resort at Disney World, Saratoga Springs can be a great choice. As one of the larger DVC resorts, it typically has good availability beyond the 11-month mark. In addition, it has a decent contract length with an expiration date of 2054 and reasonable annual dues. Currently, dues are $8.54 per point. Saratoga Springs also has a low price at an average of $102 per point.
Old Key West
When you’re not booking at the 11-month mark, Old Key West has many of the same advantages as Saratoga Springs. Like Saratoga, Old Key West has a large inventory of rooms that often lasts well into the 7-month mark. Plus, the rooms at Old Key West are some of the largest among the DVC resorts by square footage. Old Key West contracts go for a relatively low price per point. Contracts ending in 2042 currently go for an average of $89 per point while the rarer extended Old Key West contracts ending in 2057 go for an average of $117 per point.
Copper Creek
Copper Creek may not be the first resort that people think of as a home resort when they don’t care to prioritize the 11-month booking window. After all, availability of Deluxe Studios can be challenging at Copper Creek even at the 11-month mark. Nevertheless, Copper Creek frequently ranks among the most economical DVC contracts to buy, which means it makes for relatively cheap points to use at other resorts once you’re past the 7-month mark. With a deed expiration of 2068, Copper Creek has a long contract length for many years of magical vacations to come!
Bay Lake Tower
Another less-than-intuitive choice is Bay Lake Tower. If you occasionally wish to book a prime location at the 11-month mark, Bay Lake Tower offers a good proposition. Like Copper Creek, Bay Lake Tower is among the most economical DVC contracts, so points are still relatively cheap even if you end up using them to book other resorts.
Bay Lake Tower also has the advantage of a prime location along the monorail loop for easy transportation to Magic Kingdom and EPCOT. Among the monorail resorts, Bay Lake Tower actually has the lowest price per point and the lowest point chart, so you can get more out of your points.
