Is a Riviera Resale Contract Right for You?

At first glance, a Riviera resale contract may give you pause. After all, Riviera resale contracts are restricted. This means that you can only use Riviera resale points for stays at Riviera. While this limitation may deter some prospective buyers, a Riviera resale contract can be a good value for some.

A Long Deed

Although the Beach Club and BoardWalk are popular resorts, a huge con to buying a contract at those resorts is the short contract length. Beach Club and BoardWalk deeds expire in 2042, so there are only about 15 years left on the contract. For younger DVC Members, this may not feel like enough time to use their DVC points. Riviera is the only EPCOT resort with a deed that goes beyond 2042. Contracts there don’t expire until 2070, which is 28 years longer than those at the Beach Club or BoardWalk.  

A Relatively Low Price Per Point

If you’re looking for an EPCOT home resort, Riviera also beats the Beach Club and BoardWalk when it comes to price per point. Currently, the Beach Club goes for an average of $140 per point, while the BoardWalk goes for $120 per point. By contrast, Riviera goes for an average of $120 per point. Riviera’s lower price per point combined with its longer deed makes it a more economical purchase than the Beach Club or BoardWalk. In fact, it ranked as the #1 most economical DVC Resort in fall 2025.   

Riviera Itself Has a Lot of Pros

Being restricted to only using your points at Riviera can be a huge con to some, but if you already own unrestricted points elsewhere, or you simply love staying at Riviera, a Riviera resale contract can be a great option!

Convenient Transportation

Its location along the Skyliner means that you can quickly travel to EPCOT and Hollywood Studios. With the Skyliner dropping you off at EPCOT’s International Gateway (the back entrance to EPCOT), you are closer to the World Showcase, which is perfect for enjoying the park’s many festivals!

When you need to take a bus to Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, or Disney Springs, the bus stop is nicely covered for the entire walk from the lobby. Also, there are separate loading areas for each destination, which can make boarding more orderly.

Beautiful Rooms

The rooms at Riviera have a modern luxe feel with European-inspired decor and similar layouts to the rooms at the Grand Floridian, such as the Deluxe Studios with the split bathroom. Riviera also has the low-point Tower Studios, which are similar to the Duo Studios at the Polynesian and the Villas at Disneyland Hotel. They can be hard to book but a great bargain for a couple’s trip when you can find availability! If you love subtle Disney details, take a look at the artwork, carpeting, and even the railings on the balconies—you’ll find characters hidden everywhere.

Top Notch Dining

If dining is a big part of your Disney World vacation, Riviera’s restaurants are among the crème de la crème! Topolino’s Terrace offers one of the best character breakfasts on property. Not only do you get to meet Mickey and his pals in their special Riviera outfits, but the quality of food is unmatched. Kids can still get basics like Mickey waffles, while adults can enjoy entrees such as wood-fired steak and eggs, sour cream waffles, avocado and smoked salmon toast, and eggs benedict florentine. At Topolino’s, you can dine on French and Italian cuisine with dishes like sole meunière, duck à l’orange, chicken sugo rigatoni, and bouillabaisse, and then watch Luminous in EPCOT from the terrace.

Riviera’s quick-service restaurant and pool bar also feel elevated. The quick-service restaurant is more of a quick and casual spot, serving pizzas, beef bolognese, burgers, and sandwiches on real plates and silverware when you dine in. Besides the typical pool bar drinks, chicken strips, and burgers, Bar Riva offers a seasonal pizza, grilled chicken pasta, seasonal arancini, and chilled Mediterranean shrimp.
