Polynesian: How Much More Can You Get with a Resale Contract?

If you’re browsing this website, you probably already know that you can save thousands of dollars on a resale DVC contract compared to buying one directly through Disney. Beyond these savings, another way to measure the difference in value between a resale contract and a direct one is the number of points you can purchase for the same price. To illustrate, let’s take a look at a Polynesian direct contract versus a Polynesian resale contract.

Why the Polynesian?

The Polynesian is one of the original resorts at Disney World. Along with the resort’s monorail access and fireworks views, the relaxing island vibes and beach set the Polynesian apart from other resorts. What Does a Polynesian Direct Contract Cost?

As of September 2026, a direct contract at the Polynesian goes for $243 per point.  If you are looking at an average size contract of 160 points, that direct contract would cost a total of $38,880.  For that 160-point contract, you could get a weeklong stay in a Preferred View Duo Studio or a Resort View Deluxe Studio at the Polynesian for most travel periods.

How Much Can You Save with a Polynesian Resale Contract?

As of August 2026, the average price per point for a Polynesian contract is $172 per point.  For a 160-point resale contract, the total cost would be $27,520.  That’s $11,630 less than the cost of a 160-point direct contract!  

How Many More Points Can You Get By Going with a Resale Contract?

Another way to look at the difference between direct and resale is that if you were to put the $38,880 that you would have spent on a direct Polynesian contract towards a resale contract instead, you could purchase a 225-point contract!  In other words, buying a resale contract instead of a direct one gets you 41% more points!

With more points, you can have more vacations, or you could upgrade your accommodations to a better view or to a larger room.  For 225 points, you could have a weeklong stay in a Theme Park View Deluxe Studio for some travel periods or a Resort View One Bedroom Villa during the cheapest travel period.  

Bottom line: Buying a Polynesian resale contract instead of a direct contract can save you thousands of dollars or get you more DVC points for more vacations, better views, or larger accommodations!
