Underrated DVC Rooms for Maximizing Your Points

With so many different DVC resorts, there’s a wide range of accommodations to choose from. Although there are some perennial favorites that are highly sought after like the Value and Concierge rooms at Animal Kingdom Villas, Riviera Tower Studios, Copper Creek Deluxe Studios, and just about much any room at the Beach Club, there are some underrated room types that are not as popular but a great value for your points.

DVC Members who are looking to stretch their points may automatically think of the Value rooms at Animal Kingdom Villas as the perfect option. However, they’re incredibly hard to book due to the limited room inventory for that category.
Instead, it’s worth considering the Animal Kingdom Villas Resort View Deluxe Studios. They are not as low in point value as the Value rooms, but compared to other DVC rooms at other resorts, they are quite the bargain! Point values start at as little as 10 points a night and tops off at 23 points per night during peak season.

Old Key West One Bedroom Villas
Old Key West may not be a favorite for those who like to avoid bus transportation to and from the theme parks, but it’s hard to beat the space that the rooms offer. In particular, the One Bedroom Villa at Old Key West is the largest one among the DVC resorts at Disney World based on square footage. Plus, you don’t need to spend a lot of points to stay in an Old Key West One Bedroom Villa. It goes from as little as 20 points per night to 50 points per night during Christmas and Easter, which makes it one of the more point-economical One Bedroom Villas.

Saratoga Springs Treehouse Villas
With a larger travel party, the Two Bedroom Villas are a good size room with enough space for up to 9 guests in many resorts. When you want more space for up to 9 guests, the Treehouse Villas at Saratoga Springs are a fantastic option. For just 1 to 4 points more per night than a Preferred Two Bedroom Villa at Saratoga Springs, you get more room to sprawl, an extra bedroom, a private deck, and a unique cabin-like room that’s not offered at any other DVC resort!

Fort Wilderness Cabins
The newest DVC resort is unusual in that it only has one room type, cabins. Nevertheless, these cabins are a happy medium between studios and one bedrooms. The Cabins at Fort Wilderness Resort are similar in point value to some of the more expensive Deluxe Studios, such as those at the Polynesian, Grand Floridian, and Riviera but offer a little more than a studio would. The cabins sleep up to 6 guests and include amenities like a full kitchen, a private deck with a seating for outdoor dining, and a grill. Plus, the cabins offer more privacy than a studio since there is a bedroom with a queen bed and bunk beds that is separate from the living room and kitchen.
