Best Uses for a Small DVC Contract

DVC contracts come in all different sizes!  For some people, a small DVC contract of 100 points or less is all that is needed for decades of magical Disney vacations.  Here are a few scenarios in which a small DVC contract can work best for you.

Trying Out DVC

Small contracts can be a great way to dip your toe into DVC and see if it works well for you and your family.  While researching about DVC through blogs such as this, vlogs, and forums is incredibly helpful, you really learn best by using your DVC points firsthand.  Starting with a small contract also translates into a lower entry cost, which makes becoming a DVC Member more approachable.

Adding On More Points

If you find you need more points as many DVC Members do, you can always purchase another contract to add on more points.  Adding on a small contract can be an easy way to supplement an existing contract if you find yourself consistently short on points and in need of one-time-use points each year.  Small contracts are also a good way to add on points without increasing your annual dues drastically.

Vacationing Every Other Year

One of the great things about DVC is its flexibility, including the ability to bank or borrow points, so you can use those points either a year later or a year earlier.  Thanks to this flexibility, sometimes a small contract is all you need if you don’t go on Disney vacations every year.

For example, if you wanted to stay in a Boulder Ridge Deluxe Studio for a week in December (excluding Christmas Eve through New Year’s Eve), that trip would cost 114 points.  If you only wanted to take this trip every other year, you could get a 60-point Boulder Ridge contract and either bank or borrow a year’s worth of points to have enough points for your December stay.
