Where Can I Use My Resale DVC Points?

If you’re exploring the DVC resale market and trying to understand the distinction between direct and resale DVC points, one of the big questions you may have is: where can I book with resale DVC points?” The answer will largely depend on which resort you choose as your home resort.
At Your Home Resort
No matter which resale contract you choose, you’ll get to book your home resort when you’re 7 to 11 months out from your desired check-in date. This gives you a head start on booking and the best availability since DVC Members who don’t own points at your home resort won’t be able to book there until the 0- to 7-month booking window.
At the Original 14 DVC Resorts
Most resale points are eligible to book stays at other DVC resorts when you’re within the 0- to 7-month booking window. These include resale points from the original 14 DVC Resorts:
- Animal Kingdom Villas
- Aulani
- Bay Lake Tower
- Beach Club
- BoardWalk
- Boulder Ridge
- Copper Creek
- Grand Californian
- Grand Floridian
- Hilton Head
- Old Key West
- Polynesian (including the Polynesian Island Tower)
- Saratoga Springs
- Vero Beach
For example, you can use resale Polynesian points to book a stay at the BoardWalk at the 7-months out from your desired check-in date. You can even use resale Vero Beach points to book a stay at Aulani within the 0- to 7-month booking window. However, resale points from the resorts listed above can’t be used to book stays at newer DVC Resorts, such as Riviera, the Villas at Disneyland Hotel, and the Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness.

BoardWalk Villas
If you own resale points at one of the newer DVC Resorts that has resale restrictions, you will only be able to book stays at your home resort. These resorts with restrictions include:
Resale points from the future Lakeshore Lodge will also have resale restrictions.
Other Vacations through Swap Programs
Did you know that your resale points can be used for vacations beyond the DVC Resorts? Through DVC Rental Store’s Point Swap Program, you can use your points for vacations, including:
- Disney Cruise Line
- Adventures by Disney
- Universal Orlando
- Royal Caribbean
- Sandals Resort
- Massanutten Resort
Essentially, the swap program allows you to rent out your points and put the rental income towards your vacation. For vacations with Disney Cruise Line and Adventures by Disney, the swap program provides great value since it often requires 30% to 50% fewer points than swapping points directly through Disney.
