What to Bring for Your DVC Villa

A compact kitchen inside a bungalow

DVC villas are like a home away from home and have more amenities than what you’d find in a regular hotel room.  This includes kitchenettes or beverage centers in the Studios or full kitchens and washers and dryers in the One Bedroom Villas and larger  villas.  With amenities like these, there are some additional items that you may want to pack or have delivered for a DVC stay.

Groceries

Since the kitchenettes and full kitchens are stocked with essentials like plates, bowls, cutlery, and pots and pans for the full kitchens, you may want to either pick up some groceries or have them delivered to the resort for snacks and simple meals in your room.

For kitchenettes, simple breakfasts like cereal and milk, fruit, yogurt, toast, or instant oatmeal can be a quick and easy way to fuel up before a day in the theme parks.  You can also get bread and deli meats for sandwiches, or you can take advantage of the microwave for mac and cheese or ramen noodles.  Some of the mini fridges have a very small freezer section, but many do not, so it may be safer to avoid any frozen goods.

For full kitchens, you have a stove, oven, and a full size refrigerator, so you can stock up on more perishables and keep frozen goods–plenty to make full meals for your family!  Note that if you plan to cook, the villas don’t have basics like salt or pepper.

Cleaning Supplies

If you stay in a One Bedroom Villa or larger, you’ll find small containers of laundry detergent for the in-room washing machine.  If you run out, you can always ask for more from housekeeping.  However, some guests may prefer to bring their own detergent pods or sheets and dryer sheets.  Detergent and dryer sheets can be helpful even for stays in a Studio or the Fort Wilderness Cabin that don’t have in-room washers and dryers since you can still use the free laundry rooms.

Extras for Babies and Toddlers

DVC villas are great for travel parties with babies and toddlers.  The full kitchens are convenient for preparing and cleaning baby bottles, sippy cups, or snack cups since you have a dishwasher, but if you only have a kitchenette, it’s helpful to bring a travel bottle brush.

If you request a pack and play or mini crib, housekeeping will include a fitted sheet for it, but some families like to bring a fitted sheet from home to make it more comfortable and familiar for their child.

Unlike Disney Cruise Line, you cannot request a diaper pail from a resort, so it is also helpful to bring diaper disposal bags (or the cheaper alternative, dog waste bags, which do the job just as well) since trash isn’t always collected daily.  DVC stays that are 7 days or less have trash and towel service on the fourth consecutive day of your stay while stays of 8 days or more have a full cleaning on day 4 and trash and towel service on day 8.
