What Should You Do at the Cabins at Fort Wilderness Resort

Every Disney Vacation Club visit provides a new set of thrills and surprises. Where you stay greatly impacts your overall vacation experience, and that’s particularly true at the property we’re about to discuss. Let’s say that you’re staying at The Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort. What should you do?
Explore the Wilderness Trail
The first thing you should know about a stay at The Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort is that you really don’t need to leave your room. It’s an entire, fully decked-out Cabin exclusively for you and the other members of your traveling party. This space includes a BBQ grill area and some other amenities surrounding your Cabin, so it’s a wonderful place to hole up for a few days.
During your visit, you shouldn’t do anything mundane, though. That would defeat the purpose of staying at DVC’s most unique property. Dive into the culture at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Campground, embracing all the unique activities.
For starters, you should explore the Wilderness Trail, which you can do in several ways. The most unique one will cost extra, but it’ll provide an unforgettable vacation memory. I’m speaking of the Wilderness Back Trail Adventure, which will take you through the heart of the land. Even better, you’ll be riding a Segway, making the experience all the more memorable.
Visit the Tri-Circle-D Ranch
Anytime you visit Main Street, U.S.A. at Magic Kingdom, there’s a chance you’ll notice horses walking down the main pathway. Disney displays these gorgeous creatures during the day to make the park feel more vibrant. At night, these majestic beauties return to their home, which you’ll find at Tri-Circle-D Ranch.
However, not all of them visit the park daily. Disney mixes the routines of the horses, allowing you to interact with them in a more secluded setting as well. When you visit this dude ranch, you can pet the horses and watch them interact with each other.
Should you feel brave, you can ride a horse to make the day more exciting. Alternatively, you can choose the calmer activity of riding in a horse-drawn carriage. Both options will delight children, in particular, and the best part of being a DVC member is that none of us ever grows old. So, the Tri-Circle-D Ranch transports us back to childhood the entire visit.
Catch a Show
While you’re visiting Fort Wilderness, you’d be remiss to skip the iconic dinner theater presentation here. The Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue turned 50 years old in 2024, making it older than many of the people reading this. I say that to point out its longevity and significance to the area.

At Hoop-Dee-Doo, you’ll enjoy a magnificent campfire dinner featuring fried chicken and pork ribs plus all the fixin’s you could ever want. The iconic menu here has remained largely intact since the 1970s, with the main change being a welcome switch to Strawberry Shortcake for dessert.
In anticipation of its milestone anniversary, Disney reinvigorated the show with new songs and dance sequences. So, even if you’ve been to this restaurant in the past, it’s different now. More importantly, it’s just plain fun and a wonderful way to spend an evening at Walt Disney World.
Master the Bow
Are you more of a Katniss fan, or do you prefer Legolas? Well, if you’re a Disney fan, I guess you should pick Robin Hood. Obviously, I’m talking about the most iconic archers in pop culture, and you can possibly become one at Fort Wilderness!

Okay, they probably won’t ever make a movie about you, but you can impress your friends with your archery skills. Fort Wilderness offers training sessions and tutorials. At the Bike Barn, you can spend 75 minutes improving your skills and preparing yourself for future Olympic glory. Seriously, this activity provides tons of fun for everyone ages seven and up.
Sing Along
Chip ‘n’ Dale are the unofficial mascots of Fort Wilderness Campground, which you’ll realize on certain nights. You’ll find campfire activities here nightly, but some of them feature these charming Disney characters.
So, when you arrive at the resort, one of the first things you should do is check the weekly schedule. Then, you should prioritize Chip ‘n’ Dale’s Campfire Sing-A-Long, which is even better than the regular campfire. Disney doesn’t offer many nighttime hotel activities that feature costumed characters, making this a rare opportunity. Plus, you can cook s’mores!

These are just a few of the captivating activities available at Fort Wilderness Campground. That’s why you’ll love booking a room or, even better, buying a DVC contract at The Cabins at Fort Wilderness Resort.
