Inside the New Lakeshore Lodge Lake Houses Coming to Disney World

We’ve been keeping you updated on everything about Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge. The newest Disney Vacation Club Resort is planned to open in summer 2027 and will be located at Walt Disney World along Bay Lake. Disney has been slowly dropping details about the exciting new resort, including room details, lobby design, dining options, and more.
This weekend at D23, a preview of the one- and two-bedroom Lake Houses was revealed during the Suite Dreams: Designing Disney Resorts panel. Chris Beatty, Portfolio Executive Creative Director for Walt Disney Imagineering, revealed the inspiration behind the Lake Houses alongside newly released concept art.
Our very own Paul Krieger was on-site to get a firsthand look at the latest Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge updates and capture the new Lake House photos for DVC Fan.
Let’s take a closer look at the concept behind the design, particularly how real Disney artists and the classic Disney movie Brother Bear influenced these unique accommodations.

First Look Inside the Lakeshore Lodge Lake Houses
Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge will be one of the largest DVC properties, with 967 guest rooms planned for the resort. Accommodations will include a variety of room types, ranging from studios to larger villas. Among them, DVC Members will have the option to stay in one- and two-bedroom Lake Houses located right along Bay Lake.
The newly revealed concept art gives us a much better idea of what staying in one of these Lake Houses could feel like.
What Will the Lakeshore Lodge Lake Houses Look Like?
The concept art shows spacious bedrooms, bathrooms, and living areas. High ceilings and exposed beams emulate the classic A-frame design you may expect to find in a lake house, while the overall look has a contemporary touch rather than the feel of a traditional rustic cabin.
The location alone will provide captivating views of Bay Lake and all the natural beauty that Florida has to offer. Now, it’s clear that the flora and fauna will be part of the appeal of the Lake Houses themselves. Floor-to-ceiling windows will allow Members to take in the expansive views and feel connected to the surrounding environment.
The concept art reveals several notable features throughout the Lake Houses:
- Expansive living and dining areas
- Full kitchens
- Spacious bedrooms and bathrooms
- Floor-to-ceiling windows
- High ceilings and exposed beams
- Warm woods and nature-inspired materials
- Greens, oranges, and other colors drawn from the surrounding environment
- Contemporary design rather than a traditional rustic cabin feel
- Details inspired by Brother Bear, including artwork, lighting, and color schemes
The warm woods, color choices, spacious rooms, and lake house influences give these accommodations a look and feel that we haven’t quite seen at a DVC resort before. But there’s more to the design than what you see in the concept art. The Lake Houses also have a backstory that pays tribute to Disney artists and the creative process behind some of our favorite animated films.

The Lake Houses Are Designed as Disney Artists’ Retreats
The color choices, Brother Bear details, and overall design are all part of a bigger story.
Artists have long immersed themselves in new environments to find inspiration for their work. Imagineers took that idea and designed the Lake Houses as if they were retreats used by Disney artists. When you step inside, the idea is that you’re entering a space where an artist has been living, creating, and drawing inspiration from the nature surrounding them.
It should almost feel as though the artist has just stepped away from their work and you’ve entered the retreat they left behind. Perhaps they were studying the landscape and gathering inspiration for a film just like Brother Bear. Artwork, colors, natural materials, and other details throughout the room help bring that story to life without relying on obvious character references.
It’s the kind of subtle storytelling that longtime Disney fans may especially appreciate. You don’t necessarily need to know the backstory to enjoy the space, but once you do, those smaller details take on a little more meaning. Guests become part of the scene and may even draw a little inspiration from the natural environment themselves.

Why Brother Bear Inspired the Lakeshore Lodge Lake Houses
At first, Brother Bear may seem like an unexpected choice for a resort in Central Florida. But Beatty revealed there’s a deeper connection between the film and Disney Parks history.
Brother Bear was produced in part by Walt Disney Feature Animation Florida, the animation studio that operated at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The Florida connection helped make the film a fitting choice for the Lake Houses and gives Imagineers an opportunity to pay tribute to the artists who worked on it.
During the D23 panel, Beatty described the spaces as almost like “love letters” to Brother Bear and the artists behind the film. That connection also fits naturally with the larger concept of imagining each Lake House as a retreat where a Disney artist has come to find inspiration.

Where You’ll See Brother Bear Influences
Because the resort has a modern feel, the references to Brother Bear are subtle and tasteful. Rather than filling the Lake Houses with characters from the movie, Imagineers appear to be taking inspiration from the film’s environments, colors, and artwork.
The use of the northern lights were among the most striking details. Concept art shows an illuminated mountain landscape and colorful sky behind the bed, with similar imagery surrounding the tub.
Throughout the Lake Houses, Members can also see:
- Northern lights imagery
- Mountain landscapes
- Greens, blues, purples, and oranges inspired by the film
- Natural wood tones and materials
- Artwork and smaller design details inspired by Brother Bear and its environments
The film helped shape the atmosphere and storytelling of the Lake Houses, while nature remains the star of the show.
