Alternatives to Moonlight Magic

Many DVC Resale Members wonder if they’re eligible for DVC Moonlight Magic events, the complimentary after hours events in the theme parks that are exclusive to DVC Members.  While most DVC Resale Members are not eligible (unless grandfathered under previous rules), there are some great alternatives that are just as much fun.  Plus, these alternatives cost far less than the thousands of dollars you saved by purchasing a resale contract instead of a direct one!

After Hours Events

Just like Moonlight Magic, After Hours are events that take place at night after the theme parks have closed to the general public.  These events are limited-capacity, which translates to lower crowds and attraction wait times!  They also offer a chance to meet rare characters and complimentary ice cream novelties, popcorn, and soft drinks.

You’ll find After Hours events at Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, and Hollywood Studios.

H2O Glow Nights

If you ever wanted to go to a Moonlight Magic event at Typhoon Lagoon, the H2O Glow Nights are nearly identical.  H20 Glow Nights are 3-hour nighttime events at Typhoon Lagoon.  With limited capacity, the events offer lower wait times for the Typhoon Lagoon Surf Pool, Castaway Creek, and water rides like Miss Adventure Falls.  Like Moonlight Magic at Typhoon Lagoon, H2O Glow Nights includes a DJ dance party with Disney characters, complimentary ice cream novelties, popcorn, and soft drinks.  

Holiday Parties

Moonlight Magic events haven’t taken place in the Magic Kingdom in quite a few years.  However, if you were interested in Moonlight Magic for the late night hours and lower wait times, holiday parties like Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party or Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party offer a more festive way to enjoy the Magic Kingdom at night with lower crowds.  These holiday parties offer lower wait times for attractions, special parades and shows, exclusive fireworks, meet and greets with rare characters, and complimentary treats.

If you love Hollywood Studios, you could also consider Jollywood Nights during the holiday season for an evening filled with special entertainment, character experiences, and a touch of old Hollywood glamour.
