DVC Refurbishment Fall 2026 Update

The thermometer may not show it, but we’ve officially entered the Fall season. So, it’s time for our quarterly look at all the improvements happening at Disney Vacation Club resorts. Here’s the DVC refurbishment update for Fall 2026.

There aren’t many major new DVC refurbishment updates to report this fall, but several ongoing projects are still worth keeping an eye on. Here’s a quick reminder of where things stand now and which resort updates we expect to hear more about in the months ahead.

DVC Guarantees Refurbishments

One benefit of Disney Vacation Club ownership is that DVC Resorts are regularly refurbished to keep accommodations updated over time.

DVC generally follows a refurbishment cycle that includes two types of updates. Around the seven-year mark, resorts typically receive a Soft Goods refurbishment, which may include updates to bedding, carpeting, drapes, furnishings, and other room finishes.

Around the 14-year mark, resorts generally undergo a more extensive Hard Goods refurbishment. These projects can significantly update the rooms, including kitchens, bathrooms, furniture, appliances, and layouts.

In recent years, even some Soft Goods refurbishments have included larger improvements, such as adding in-wall pull-down beds and more convenient charging options.

Current Soft Goods Refurbishments 

The pandemic messed up DVC’s 7- and 14-year schedules at several resorts. For this reason, Disney has played a bit of catch-up in recent years. Fortunately, we’ve mostly returned to a reliable schedule of Soft and Hard Goods refurbishments.

As I referenced in the Summer update, Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa is currently refurbishing its Treehouse Villas. I actually stayed in one of the updated rooms in late May but didn’t even realize it. In my defense, I’d never stayed there before and thereby had no point of reference. 

These updates reinforce the benefits of Hard Goods refurbishment. Disney added entirely new, state-of-the-art appliances in the kitchen. I also appreciated the focus on better USB port availability in all the rooms.

Another Walt Disney World resort, Disney’s Old Key West Resort, the original DVC property, is currently undergoing changes. You’ll notice a few differences as you stroll the resort. This unnarrated video shows off a couple of them:

DVC rooms should be modestly changing since this is technically a Soft Goods update. However, DVC officials termed this refurbishment as somewhere between Soft and Hard Goods, a “mini-Hard Goods” renovation. Disney will update the kitchens, bathrooms, and kitchenettes.

Current Hard Goods Refurbishments 

Another Walt Disney World resort is currently undergoing a Hard Goods makeover. Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas has passed the halfway point in its refurbishment. As I mentioned last time, Disney has finished the Kidani Village portion of the project. DVC Fan thoughtfully gave you a look at those rooms:

Presuming no delays, Jambo House should be finished within the next six months. This project will run into early 2027, but it shouldn’t take much longer than that. We already know what they look like thanks to this video:

What stands out to me in the updated Studio is the kitchenette area. It feels much less chaotic while still matching the rest of the room. Also, as referenced earlier, the Studios here are adding the in-wall pull-down beds. Most DVC fans prefer this style of bedding since it adds more daytime space.

Finally, nothing has changed on another front. The Villas at Disney’s Grand Californian Resort & Spa technically already finished its Hard Goods update last year. Unfortunately, in a singularly unprecedented turn of events, DVC owners rejected the changes.

Members argued that Disney hadn’t done enough. To DVC’s credit, the company admitted its shortcomings and promised to try again. Alas, Disney pushed back the changes until the Fall, meaning that we’re just entering that phase. So, you’ll have to wait until the next update to learn more about them.
