How Long Does It Take to Break Even on a Saratoga Springs Resale Contract?

DVC resale contracts can save you thousands of dollars compared to buying a contract directly through Disney, but how long does it take for you to break even on your purchase compared to cash stays through Disney?  Let’s walk through an example with a Saratoga Springs resale contract.  

What Does a Resale Contract Cost?

At the time of writing this blog, the average price per point for a Saratoga Springs resale contract is around $96 per point.  If you were to purchase a 175-point contract at $96 per point, it would cost $16,800.  

How Many Stays Can You Book with 175 Points?

Based on the 2025 Saratoga Springs points chart, a 175-point contract is enough points to get you a week or more in a Standard or Preferred Deluxe Studio any time of the year!  You would even have enough points to stay in a Standard One Bedroom Villa for a week in September (the cheapest travel period).

How Does That Compare to Cash Stays?

An average night in a Saratoga Springs Preferred Deluxe Studio costs $554 when booking a cash stay through Disney’s website.  For a weeklong stay, that would be $3,878 or $4,362.75 after the 12.5% resort tax.  If you were to take a similar vacation every year for just 4 years, you would be paying Disney more than the cost of that 175-point Saratoga Springs resale contract!  That’s without adjusting for the fact that the cost of Disney resort stays increases every year.

What About Annual Dues?

Once your DVC contract is paid up, the only other cost is the annual dues.  Saratoga Springs dues are currently $8.14 per point, so for that 175-point contract, you’d pay $1,424.50 for the year.  This is less than the cost of that weeklong cash stay at Saratoga Springs ($4,362.75).  While dues do increase from year to year, the increase for Saratoga Springs has been low with an inception-to-date compound annual growth rate of 3.9%.  On average, cash stays have an average annual increase of 7.7%.
