Pluto

Welcome to the News You Need! Halloween is past and the Christmas festivities are popping up at parks all over the world.

Here’s what you need to know to make your holidays at the Disney parks as merry and bright as possible!

The Military Salute Returns

Details of the 2018 Military Salute promotion have been announced!

2018 pricing is about $20 over 2017 pricing, but it’s still an incredible deal for active and retired U.S. military personnel or their spouses including active or retired members of the National Guard, Reservists, the U.S. Coast Guard, the Commissioned Corps of the Public Health Service (PHS), and the Commissioned Corps of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) (“Eligible Service Members”).

You will have to have a valid military ID for purchase and use of the 4 or 5 day tickets. Check the military pricing site for more details!

Move Over, Universe of Energy

It’s been announced that Epcot’s Universe of Energy ride (now closed) will receive a major transformation into an indoor roller coaster with a Guardians of the Galaxy theme!

Not many details have been released as of yet, but the rumors include a new ride system, a ten-story height, and a tunnel launch.

Stay tuned to the News You Need as we learn more about when this roller coaster will launch for the first time and all the other exciting details! photo courtesy of Walt Disney World

RunDisney Exits California

In a surprising announcement last month, RunDisney cancelled all of its scheduled California races and confirmed their exit from Disneyland for the foreseeable future.

While it was stated that it will be 2-3 years at least due to Star Wars construction, Disney has not given an exact date for when (or if) the races will return to Disneyland.

The last RunDisney event at Disneyland will be held November 9.

Hollywood Studios’ Holiday Buff-Up

November 1 brought a whole host of new holiday decorations to Hollywood Studios, and while we won’t spoil the fun with photos, the changes are great!

The park also has some new nighttime holiday entertainment, so be sure to get a good look around (especially Echo Lake) while you’re there this holiday season, and check your app or Times Guide for the newest additions!

Some Disney World Hotels Become Dog Friendly

As of October 15, Art of Animation, Port Orleans Riverside, Yacht Club, and the Cabins at Fort Wilderness will welcome dogs in some of their resort rooms.

Only two dogs per room are allowed, and there are several restrictions and regulations as well as an additional charge for guests wishing to bring their dogs to Disney World.

See this article from the Disney Tourist Blog for more details.

Paint the Night Returns to Disneyland

Paint the Night will finally return to Disneyland in the Summer of 2018 when it becomes a regular part of evenings at Disney California Adventure’s Pixar Pier.

The parade has been dark for a long time, only appearing occasionally as part of holiday lineups or special events.

Stay tuned to the News You Need for the exact kickoff date!
