Still More Benefits of Joining DVC

What are the benefits of joining the Disney Vacation Club? I’ve discussed this topic a couple of times recently, focusing on aspects like cost certainty and scalability. Well, I’ve still got several more reasons why I love this program I joined many years ago. Here are still more benefits of joining DVC.

DVC Offers Divergent Accommodations

Have you ever spent the night in a Cabin at Walt Disney World? What about a Treehouse Villa? Or a Bungalow? All these things are possible thanks to the DVC program.

Since 1991, Disney has innovated every step of the way with the DVC program. After nearly a quarter-century, the original premise of DVC has evolved into an impressive array of very different hotel experiences.

Most recently, DVC introduced The Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Lodge. These rooms provide a rustic getaway for families. Unlike most other Disney hotel options, the Cabins aren’t connected to other rooms. So, you and your family enjoy a rare amount of isolation while visiting Walt Disney World.

Remarkably, these weren’t the first Cabins available to DVC members. When Copper Creek Cabins & Villas at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge opened, some lucky owners immediately spent their points on Cascade Cabins. Take a look at these deluxe accommodations:

The Cascade Cabins reside by the water at Wilderness Lodge, making them feel secluded. You’ll be at one with nature throughout your stay, but you’re still only a short boat ride away from Magic Kingdom.

Before the Cabins, Disney fans knew which rooms to pick at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa. The Treehouse Villas offer a similar escape from the kineticism of a Disney vacation. Once your park day has ended, you can head to your octagonal treehouse in the forest and forget the outside world exists.

Finally, we have the iconic Bungalows at Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows. Styled after the bungalows you’d find at exotic South Seas luxury resorts, these rooms are right in the water across from Magic Kingdom. So, you can sit on the deck and watch the fireworks. Since their inception, these Polynesian Bungalows have been a bucket list hotel room stay for DVC members.

These divergent accommodations provide program participants with a stunning array of vacation options. You can pick a deluxe Studio, a plush Villa, an intimate Duo Studio, or one of these dazzling Cabins, Treehouses, and Bungalows. How’s that for freedom of choice?

DVC Is Multigenerational

You can transfer the deed to your DVC contract to a loved one. It’s imperative that you know this, as you should mention your DVC contract in your will. It’s a valuable asset that will provide joy to someone else.

Since DVC contracts can last into the 2070s, some of us won’t be here when our DVC memberships expire. But we can be sure

that our children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews have a great time at Disney after we’re gone.

Of course, none of us wants to think about that aspect. So, let’s focus on something happier. As I just mentioned, you’ll have divergent room options for your DVC hotel stays. You can travel with as many loved ones as you, booking the room(s) that fit your needs.

In that way, you get to share Disney with your ‘ohana. The multigenerational nature of DVC is one of my favorite things about it. I’m currently experiencing the joy of a child I watched cover her ears during the fireworks become a member of the Disney College Program this year. Ten years ago, I couldn’t get her off Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. Now, there’s a chance that she’s working at Big Thunder Mountain Railroad one day soon!

These are the indelible memories that the DVC program creates. And I say with sincerity that this one wouldn’t have happened if I hadn’t persuaded her father to try DVC a decade ago. As a member, you’ll probably experience similar full-circle moments.

DVC Points Options

Here’s something you may not know about the DVC program. Your DVC Points are useful in several ways beyond booking Disney trips.

For starters, you can book a Disney Cruise Line vacation with your points. Even the newest ships in the fleet, the Disney Wish and the Disney Treasure, are available to book using DVC Points. So, you can sail the high seas thanks to DVC!

Also, as I mentioned last time, you can expand your hotel options to hundreds of other locations by using the Interval International exchange program. That’s one way to maximize your points. Disney makes sure that you’re not tethered to theme park vacations, adding variety to your travel options.

Then, we have various exchange programs such as the Universal Orlando Swap. By taking advantage of this opportunity, you can switch your DVC Points for vacations at Universal Orlando Resort, home to Universal Epic Universe, the newest theme park in America. I think so highly of this offer that I recently recommended that Universal Studios fans join DVC to take advantage of it.

Finally, when you simply have no other immediate use for your DVC Points, you can rent them. DVC Rental Store will pay you cash for any unused points you have. So, you won’t just get back the money you paid for your annual dues but likely quite a bit more. It’s a lucrative way to monetize your DVC contract during the years when you choose not to visit Disney.
