Tips for Making DVC Room Requests

Besides being able to choose specific room types and views when making a DVC reservation, did you know that you can submit room requests? Sometimes a certain location or view can really enhance your stay.  Whether you would like to request a room on the ground floor for better accessibility or you would like to enjoy a partial fireworks view, sometimes a room request can be helpful.

You Don’t Have to Make Your Request By Phone

You can submit a room request by calling Member Services or Disney World or even going the old fashioned route by faxing the resort.  However, sometimes it is quicker and easier to use the chat features on the DVC or Disney websites.  You can also email Member Services by going to the Help & Contact page and selecting Email Us.

If you have a more generic request, such as a preference for a higher or lower floor or to be near the lobby, you can submit that request through the online check-in feature in the My Disney Experience app.  If you have a reservation for Old Key West or Saratoga Springs, you will also see the option to request specific sections of the resort.  Note that if you value getting your room earlier on your check-in day, you can check off the box to prioritize getting a room over having your request fulfilled.

Avoid Asking for Specific Room Numbers

If you’ve had a room with a particularly great view or location during a previous stay, it may be tempting to request that exact room for a future trip.  However, if you limit your request to just one room, your odds of getting your request are quite low.  Instead it may help to broaden your request to a certain section.

View from Bay Lake Tower Preferred View Deluxe Studio 8208

For example, some Bay Lake Tower Standard View and Preferred View rooms have a partial view of Magic Kingdom, which means that you can view fireworks from your balcony without the more point-expensive Theme Park View!  Even if you know that Preferred Deluxe Studio 8208 at Bay Lake Tower is one of these rooms, you may have better odds if requesting an even numbered room on the North side of the building since there is more than one room with that partial theme park view.

Remember That Requests Are Just Requests

Even if you submit a room request, know that they are not guaranteed to be fulfilled.  Some rooms are very popular requests, which makes your odds of getting them low.  For example, there are only a few of the alternative layout Deluxe Studios at Copper Creek, and many DVC Members try to request them, so your chances of getting one can be quite low.  Regardless of what room you ultimately get assigned, you know that you still get to enjoy a wonderful room at a Deluxe Disney Resort.
