Why Do DVC Members Purchase Add-on Contracts?

DVC contracts are a considerably large purchase, and the contracts last for many years with anywhere from 16 to 49 years left on them, depending on the home resort.  So why is it so common for DVC Members to purchase another contract and add on more points?

More Stays or Longer Stays

Many DVC Members find that once they start using their points, they want even more points because the more points you have, the more nights you can book!  This means booking longer vacations for more leisurely trips or more frequent Disney vacations that allow you to catch more of the special seasonal events and festivals.

Larger Accommodations

Over the lifetime of your DVC contract, your family’s needs can change.  A Studio may be the perfect size when you first purchase your contract, but if your family grows or you want to travel more often with friends or extended family, you may want more points for larger villas like the Two Bedroom Villas that fit up to 9 guests or Three Bedroom Grand Villas that fit up to 12 guests.

Another Home Resort

There are so many incredible DVC resorts that it’s sometimes hard to choose a favorite!  If you find that you frequently enjoy staying at a resort that’s not your home resort, you may want to consider adding on more points from that other resort.  This way, you can get the 11-month booking window at both resorts.  This is especially helpful at popular resorts like the Beach Club that are difficult to book at the 7-month mark or under.

Cheaper Points

Alternatively, some DVC Members seek out a more economical contract to have as many points as possible to use at the 7-month mark.  Some good home resorts for this strategy are Copper Creek, Bay Lake Tower, and Saratoga Springs.
