What to Love About the Grand Floridian Deluxe Studio

The Grand Floridian lives up to its name with its grandiose lobby and elegant decor, and it often has a reputation for being stuffy.  However, it’s actually one of my favorite resorts, even as someone who typically books Deluxe Studios and travels with a toddler.  Beyond the beautiful furnishings, here’s why the Grand Floridian Deluxe Studio can be a great pick.

The Split Bathroom Layout

One of the biggest benefits of staying in a Grand Floridian Deluxe Studio is the split bathroom layout with the toilet and tub/shower combo on one side and the sink and extra shower on the other.  It’s always easier to get everyone ready for the day with an extra shower.  Plus, if you are an early riser, the pocket doors partitioning the bathroom area helps you get ready without disturbing other members of your travel party.

Compared to the smaller bathrooms like those found at resorts such as the BoardWalk, Beach Club, and Jambo House, the Grand Floridian Deluxe Studio has a lot more space around the bathtub, which is helpful for bathtime with little ones.

Mini Fridge

While appliances can be swapped out over time, the mini fridges that are currently in the Grand Floridian Deluxe Studios are a bit more spacious than the usual mini fridges you find in other DVC resorts.  That extra space is great for storing perishable staples like yogurt, fruit, and milk or saving leftovers from dinner.  Unlike the mini fridges in a lot of other studios, it even has a separate freezer, not just a freezer compartment within the refrigerator.

The Little Luxuries

When you stay at the Grand Floridian, you’ll find some amenities you won’t normally find in a DVC Studio.  For example, you’ll find a set of bath robes in the closet, and you’ll have some extra amenities.  Beyond the usual bar soap and body lotion, you’ll find mouthwash, a shower cap, and a vanity kit with cotton pads, cotton swabs, and a nail file.

Another fun perk is in-room dining for breakfast or dinner, which you won’t find at any other Disney World resort.  You can scan the QR codes for the breakfast or dinner menus and order by dialing Private Dining from the in-room phone.

Location in the Original DVC Building

All of the Deluxe Studios at the Grand Floridian are located in the original DVC building.  While smaller than the main lobby building at the Grand Floridian, the DVC building lobby is just as elegant with a touch of whimsy thanks to its Mary Poppins-themed penguin water fountain, carousel horses, and dramatic chandeliers.  The lobby also offers some nice little amenities like sparkling water and board games like chess, checkers, backgammon, and Jenga and crayons for kids to color.

Beautiful Views

When booking a Deluxe Studio at the Grand Floridian, you can choose between Resort View (areas of the resort such as gardens or parking) or Preferred View (at least partial views of the Seven Seas Lagoon).  No matter which view you book, most rooms have a nice view.  Resort View rooms often have a view of the monorail, and some even have views of the Beach Pool and partial fireworks views.
