You’re at Vero Beach What Should You Do

When Disney Vacation Club members stay at resorts, we seek entertainment. A Disney trip should mean that the fun never ends, even when you’re at your hotel. So, let’s say that you’re at Disney’s Vero Beach Resort. What should you do?

Hang Out at the Beach

In a way, Vero Beach and Disney Cruise Line offer similar vacations, at least for some Disney fans. We want to spend a few days at the parks, but we all know how hectic that can be. Thus, we add a Disney cruise to give ourselves a few relaxing days at sea, including a day or two on the beach.

Well, Vero Beach provides the same kind of vacation. You can start your visit at the parks. Then, once you’re done there, you can drive for a bit more than an hour to Vero Beach, where you can hang out on the beach and relax.

DVC members love the combo vacations, but many of us don’t even adopt that approach. We head straight to the beach and then build sandcastles all week. The Treasure Coast is legitimately one of the most beautiful places in the continental United States. So, as owners, we get the benefit of free beach access throughout our stay.

I’m about to discuss several other things you should do during your visit, but let’s be real. The whole point of going to Vero Beach is to feel the sand beneath your toes.

Visit The Green Cabins

As you approach the beach on the hotel campus, you’ll encounter an adorable shack. This is The Green Cabin, and you should make it an essential part of each beach trip. Here, you can rent all the beachy essentials you need to perfect your visit. Whether you want a boogie board, a beach chair, or a tent, this place has you covered.

Remarkably, that’s not the only place at the resort with this particular name. You should also spend some time at The Green Cabin Room, which is a different place. Disney describes it as a nautical lounge, which means that it’s an open-air bar with an ocean view. And yes, it’s every bit as breathtaking as it sounds.

You’ll need some good weather, but on magical spring and summer evenings, it’s one of the best places to be at Vero Beach. You can order an adult beverage and/or savor some shareables while you bask in the beauty of the Atlantic Ocean. This place is so gorgeous it’s almost mystical.

Important note: Disney will close this lounge for renovations from early May through late August. So, it won’t be available during the summer of 2026. As soon as it returns, prioritize it.

Play All Kinds of Golf

Something I love about Vero Beach is that the resort offers countless on-site amenities. Then, we have the other activities available in the surrounding area. In that way, Disney’s Hilton Head Island Resort and Vero Beach are kindred spirits. These are excellent vacation options for anyone who likes to be active on vacation.

Of course, there are levels of active. You may enjoy a relaxing game of miniature golf. If so, Vero Beach offers an amazing mini-golf course at the hotel! Walt Disney World’s DVC properties understandably don’t do this. You must pay to use Fantasia Gardens and Winter Summerland.

At Vero Beach, you can do the same thing for free! Here’s Port Holes:

As the sign indicates, you pick up the equipment near the pool. Then, you can play a very good nine-hole course as often as you like. Port Holes understandably has a nautical/sailing theme, complete with cannons, a captain’s wheel/helm, and a treasure chest. It’s a delightful way to pass the time.

Then again, you may prefer the real thing. The Vero Beach area hosts several public golf courses, all of which have great reviews. According to TripAdvisor, the best of the bunch are Vista Plantation Golf Club, which currently costs $38-$54 per adult, and Sandrich Golf Club, whose rates are $35-$65 per adult, depending on the season. As always, remember that you’ll pay extra for club rentals and such. Also, note that Sandrich is twice as close to the DVC hotel, making it more convenient.

Eat, Drink, and Be Merry

Since Vero Beach is a lot like a Disney cruise, you should treat it as such. You’re not visiting this resort to go hard. You’re a vacationer in need of a good time, and we all know what that entails.

While you’re at Vero Beach, your primary goal should be to get to the oceanfront as much as possible. These are days for sunscreen, bathing suits, and drinks with umbrellas. Your biggest accomplishment should be reading some Project Hail Mary or Dungeon Crawler Carl on the beach.

You can even mix in occasional special activities like Tour de Turtles during your stay at Disney’s Vero Beach Resort:

Beyond that, your sole concern is choosing the best places to eat, drink, and shop. While Vero Beach Resort hosts its own restaurants like Wind & Waves Market and Wind & Waves Grill, I recommend leaving the hotel campus.

Restaurants like Heaton’s, Lemon Tree, Riverside Café, and Waldo’s at the Drift Tree are all well worth your time and money. As for bars, the locals have a favorite, and it’s The Kilted Mermaid, an absolute must during your trip. You may want to try Havana Nights Piano Bar, too. Frankly, there are a ton of exceptional options up and down the Treasure Coast, so much so that entire websites are devoted to tracking the best ones.
