Why DVC Members Stay at Copper Creek

As we’ve been discussing over the past year, Disney Vacation Club members face an impossible choice. Where should you book your next DVC reservation? Thankfully, you’ll love all the options and cannot go wrong. Still, we’re guiding you toward some of our favorite choices, like today’s topic. Why do DVC members stay at Copper Creek Villas & Cabins?
The Rustic Vibes
Throughout our 250-year history, Americans have embraced the great outdoors. As a people, we are so passionate about camping that we turned it into glamping. If there were a Disney hotel that exemplified that concept, it’d be Disney’s Wilderness Lodge.
Copper Creek qualifies as the newer DVC option at the resort, joining the old guard, Boulder Ridge Villas at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. Don’t let the names confuse you, though. These properties share Wilderness Lodge as their home base.
As the name implies, Wilderness Lodge celebrates the great outdoors. Specifically, Disney has designed a hotel based on national park lodges. The specific inspiration is the Old Faithful Inn at Yellowstone National Park.
I’ve time-stamped this CBS News video about the inn so that you can admire the similarities. When you enter Wilderness Lodge, you cannot help but notice the parallels. Disney leaned into the all-wood design choice and aesthetics to accentuate the ideal log cabin style.
The Glorious Lobby
Longtime DVC members have developed a few hangout spots over the years. We have learned that certain places offer us intrinsic happiness and tranquility. And one of the best places at Walt Disney World is the lobby at the Wilderness Lodge.
Disney designed this place to provide the warmth and welcoming environment of a cozy ski lodge. As proof, an 82-foot-tall fireplace invites guests to grab a chair and sit a spell. Disney means it, too. You’ll find copious amounts of chairs and couches in the hotel lobby, many of which are filled with content guests.
Somehow, Wilderness Lodge works even better due to what’s right by the lobby. Whispering Canyon Café hosts guests right beside the lobby area, surprisingly close to the chimney. So, when you sit in the lobby, your spirits will be further lifted by the euphoric laughter of the guests ordering ketchup.
I’m not telling you to a book hotel based on vibes, but Wilderness Lodge is overflowing with satisfied guests. That’s one of the main reasons why DVC added a second property at this resort. Fans cannot get enough of its decidedly un-Disney laid-back ambiance.

The Pool
Technically, I should make this plural, as Wilderness Lodge hosts multiple pools. You’ll find the main one just past the hotel lobby. I highly recommend it due to its spacious size and dynamic view. The main pool provides arguably the best spots to appreciate the spectacular hotel architecture on display.
We’re talking about Copper Creek today, though. When DVC added this property, Imagineers created an entirely new and unique pool. And the best part of this pool is its theming.
The premise is akin to Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. It’s an abandoned construction site where the workers just up and fled one day. We don’t know what happened, but we can still see the crane just sitting there. This quirky decision turns a dip in the pool into an immersive experience.
Even better, Disney designed a gorgeous waterslide here, one with a view. When you stand at the top, you should perform a slow 360-degree pirouette to admire your surroundings. You’ll take in the scope of Wilderness Lodge.
That’s not even my favorite part, as you’ll also gaze at the waterfalls to one side of the pool. Yes, one of the most iconic parts of the hotel campus is right by you when you ride the slide.

The Copper Creek Springs Pool
The Boat Rides
One other reason you’ll love staying here is that you can say, “I’m on a boat!” In fact, you’ll probably say it a lot due to the logistics and necessity of it.
Wilderness Lodge offers boat transportation to and from Magic Kingdom. Since that’s the most popular theme park in the world, I’m guessing you’ll want to visit there quite a bit during your trip.
At times when you’re not interested in the parks, you can take a boat to Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort instead. Here, you’ll find tons of campground activities, the kind you’d expect to find at a dude ranch. All the horses you see at Magic Kingdom live at the Tri-Circle-D Ranch. So, that’s a second reason to want to visit here.
