All About One-Time-Use Vacation Points

With a Disney Vacation Club contract, you get the same number of points to use each year. However, DVC offers lots of flexibility with features such as banking, borrowing, and transfers, which help if you need more points for some years than others. If you find that you are just shy of the points required for a reservation, you have another option besides banking, borrowing, and transferring: one-time-use points.
These are points that you can purchase each Use Year. Any DVC Member can purchase one-time-use points, whether they purchased their contract directly from Disney or purchased a resale contract.
How Do You Buy Them?
To purchase one-time-use points, you have to call Member Services. You cannot purchase them online. You also have to purchase the points at the time that you are booking the reservation that requires the extra points. That is, you can’t just purchase points in advance to apply to a reservation at a later time. Member Services will help you purchase the points and then use them to book your reservation.
How Much Do They Cost?
Currently, one-time-use points are $20 per point. This price includes a 6.5% tax and a 6% resort tax. This rate is subject to change.
Are There Any Limitations on Using These Points?
One-time-use points can only be used at the 7-month window or under. This means that they do not have any home resort advantage. Also, you are limited to purchasing up to 24 one-time-use points per Use Year per membership.
What If You Cancel Your Trip?
If you purchase one-time-use points but then end up canceling your trip, you’ll have until the end of your Use Year to use those points. You can’t bank, borrow, or transfer one-time-use points, so if you are unable to use them before the end of the Use Year, they will expire.
