Disney Reveals More about Its Halloween Festivities

While the calendar just flipped to August, Magic Kingdom has already posted some of its Halloween decorations. Disney knows how much fans adore the Fall holiday season, and it’s starting earlier than ever this year. As part of the planning, park officials just announced new details about Disney’s Halloween festivities. Here’s what we know.

Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party Starts Next Week

On August 11th, the wildly popular Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party (MNSSHP) after-hours ticketed event will begin. Disney hosts this party six times in August, including the 11th, which is the earliest date ever.

Given the timeline, Disney has escalated its preparations. In fact, the pumpkins have already arrived near the Magic Kingdom entrance. Other decorations have appeared throughout the park, including a few on Main Street, U.S.A.

Since we’re within ten days of the event, Disney can’t dawdle. For this reason, park officials just adjusted some scheduled events and announced other experiences coming to the parks during the Halloween season.

For example, starting on August 8th, Magic Kingdom will present performances of Happily Ever After at 9 p.m. rather than its current 9:20 p.m. Then, on September 18th, the fireworks show will switch to 8:30 p.m.

Disney has taken this approach to accommodate the MNSSHP schedule. After August’s six events, September will host 13, followed by 18 in October, and a final event on November 1st. That’s 38 total parties, and Disney has less than ten days to get ready.

As an aside, three different nights have sold out for this event. Those are August 15th, August 18th, and October 31st. The August 18th sellout happened an hour before I typed this. If you don’t have tickets, you should act quickly to prevent losing your chance.

Disney’s New Fall/Halloween Announcements

Walt Disney World just revealed several other tidbits about the fall/Halloween season. For starters, the Hatbox Ghost will materialize soon at Haunted Mansion.

Hatbox Ghost Disney Parks

Disney’s Instagram account indicates that the popular character first appears in the Endless Hallway. According to Disney, the Hatbox Ghost welcomes “himself inside from the swinging wake in the cemetery and grinning at the Doom Buggies as they set off deeper into the mansion.”

Disney didn’t confirm a date yet, but the installation process has already started. I think it’s reasonable to expect the Hatbox Ghost to appear at some point between now and Halloween.

We also learned the schedule for this year’s Hocus Pocus Villain Spectacular. Cast members will perform at 8:35 PM, 10:45 PM, and midnight each night of the party. So, your tickets will give you three chances to catch the Sanderson Sisters live.

Another fall change involves Mickey & Minnie Mouse. Disney’s Instagram unveiled the iconic duo’s fall harvest look. It’s a stylish farmer design that mimics what you’d find at The Garden Grill character meal.

Disney Reveals More about the Halloween Party

At MNSSHP, pop-up events are the thing this year. A “spirited pirate band and their crew” will sometimes sing shanties at Adventureland during the party. These performances will occur in addition to the Cadaver Dans, who are making their return.

Disney also confirmed several characters who will appear. The most exciting of them is probably the rare character, Powerline Max, who will perform a pop-up dance show on Main Street, U.S.A. The schedule suggests this will happen before the Boo-to-You Halloween Parade.

This appearance will occur in addition to the previous one we already knew, which has everyone excited. I’m referencing Minnie Mouse, Daisy Duck, and Clarabelle cosplaying at the Sanderson Sisters during the parade itself.

Finally, a rare opportunity awaits at Fantasyland. All Seven Dwarfs will perform some kind of character meeting, although Disney was a bit vague on details.

By the way, Disney will once again sell exclusive MNSSHP merchandise during the event. However, regular fall/Halloween merchandise is already available at many shops, including Emporium. So, you can start your Halloween celebration whenever you want!
