Tiana’s Palace Opens at Disneyland

Tiana’s Palace has opened in New Orleans Square at Disneyland Park. How excited were the guests?

Well, the park opened at 8 a.m. on September 7th. Half an hour later, all Mobile Orders had sold out for the entire day!!!

Yes, tourists are flocking to Disneyland’s newest restaurant. Here’s what you need to know about Tiana’s Palace.

Tiana’s Palace Debuts

New Orleans Street will never be the same, as Disney Princess Tiana has brought her exquisite homespun flavors to her new restaurant. Tiana’s Palace serves some of the most recognizable dishes from The Big Easy, but they come with a distinctive Disney flair.

The restaurant’s kitchen team has crafted a menu heavy on Louisiana/southern staples like Shrimp and Grits and Gumbo. And yes! You’ll find beignets here as well.

Speaking of finding, Longtime fans of Disneyland and New Orleans Square will know where Tiana’s Palace is. That’s because Disney has re-themed the former French Market Restaurant into a more thematic experience.

As previously referenced, park officials are currently modernizing New Orleans Square. The reinvention of this restaurant into Tiana’s Palace signifies an essential step in this place, which will finish next year when the new Haunted Mansion store arrives.

Park officials desire a more vibrant experience when guests roam through New Orleans Square, which should exude a Mardi Gras vibe all the time. So, this part of the park will host concerts and other live performances, most of which will highlight jazz and Disney tunes.

In short, Tiana’s Palace represents more than just a restaurant. It’s part of a next experience at New Orleans Square, a more communal gathering place where guests can relax and enjoy a sunny day of Southern California paradise.

Speaking of which, Disney announced today that The Heartbeat of New Orleans – A Living Mural will debut at Rivers of America on September 23rd. Queenie and the Jambalaya Jazz Band will perform jazz music as they ride a New Orleans-themed raft down the river. So, New Orleans Square will look and feel much different soon.

Let’s Talk about the Menu and Décor at Tiana’s Palace

Obviously, the food’s the thing at Tiana’s Palace. You won’t care about the updated ambiance at New Orleans Square if you’re hungry the whole time you’re there.

I’m happy to report that this won’t be a concern. During a media event on September 6th, a chef at Tiana’s Palace happily told everyone that the Shrimp & Grits and Gumbo dishes are divine.

You want to order that plate of food right now, don’t you? The quality of the flavors is vital here. Please remember that The Princess and the Frog builds its entire story around the excellence of Tiana’s cooking. Now, Disneyland Park hosts her dream restaurant, the one she’d drawn in the film. This menu HAS to be great…and it is!

I’ve watched opening day diners rave about dishes like the Beef Po’ Boy Sandwich, the Muffuletta Sandwich, and 7 Greens Gumbo with Chicken & Andouille Sausage. This menu isn’t large by any stretch, but its selectivity plays to its strengths as a staple of New Orleans cuisine. And yes, there are decadent beignets!

As for the décor, it encompasses everything wonderful about the movie. Jazz music instruments adorn parts of the restaurant, while a picture of the nighttime constellations resides behind the cash register. Those who pay attention will notice two stars in the sky. Yes, Ray has embarked on his happily ever after, and Evangeline has joined him! How great is that?!

At its core, Tiana’s Palace serves as a love letter to The Princess and the Frog. As fans, that’s all we really need this restaurant to be.
