Welcome to the News You Need! February brought us a bunch of exciting openings and some announcements about closings that made us a little nostalgic. Let’s take a look at some of the news that will affect how you vacation at the Disney parks.


Pandora Gets an Opening Date For more than five years, James Cameron and the Imagineers at Walt Disney World have been planning and developing Pandora, the new land in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Last month, Pandora got it’s opening date. On May 27, 2017, Pandora will open and guests will experience new rides, technology, and concepts like nothing we’ve seen before. Want to know more? Wishes Comes to an End – Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom Park fireworks show is being replaced. “Wishes Nighttime Fireworks Spectacular” will end on May 11, 2017, and will be replaced by a new show called “Happily Ever After Nighttime Spectacular”. The new show is described as, “…the latest fireworks and pyrotechnics and original animation, plus a heart-tugging original score. And thanks to the inclusion of state-of-the-art projection mapping technology, more Disney characters than ever before will be featured in the show, including moments from “Moana,” “Brave,” “Big Hero 6,” “Zootopia,” “The Princess & The Frog,” “Aladdin” and many others.”


Breakfast with Rapunzel and Flynn, Ariel and Eric. Reservations are now open for a new character breakfast at Trattoria al Forno at Disney’s Boardwalk Villas. The Bon Voyage Breakfast opens for dining April 2, 2017, and will feature favorite Disney couples Rapunzel and Flynn Rider, Ariel and Eric. Breakfast is $34 for adults and $20 for children for selections from a limited menu. For more details, check Disney’s official description.

 


Rivers of Light is Officially Open Rivers of Light at Disney’s Animal Kingdom has opened to pleasant reviews. The show runs once or twice nightly and seating is available for FastPass+, Dining Packages at Tiffin’s and Tusker House, and standby. All seats offer good views. The show is a combination of water screen animations, lighted floats, and character-occupied lighted boats enjoyable for all ages.

 


Copper Creek Villas and Cabins Disney Vacation Club has officially announced Copper Creek Villas and Cabins at Wilderness Lodge. Available for sale beginning April 5, 2017, the villas and cabins comprise all four Disney Vacation Club room types (1, 2, and 3 bedroom rooms plus 2 bedroom cabins). The Wilderness Lodge grounds are being improved with new pools, restaurants, and recreation activities to accommodate the addition of DVC lodging. For more information on the additions, click here.
