First responders have lodged a worrisome complaint about Disney. Meanwhile, DVC members are just trying to visit
We’ve got some more unexpected developments at Disney this week.
The Latest Virtual Queue at Disney Is…
Have you tried to log on Disney Vacation Club’s membership website lately? Most of the time, it’s not a problem.
Unfortunately, the early morning hours have proven somewhat challenging. Many DVC members sign into their accounts at this time, generally on or before 8 a.m. EST.
Our goal is to schedule hotel reservations as soon as the booking window opens.
Disney’s tech has grown a bit inconsistent and frankly needs an overhaul.

Occasionally, the massive demand prevents people from accessing these pages. We’ve all seen Stitch eat the page many times by now.
So, DVC has integrated what I presume is a short-term solution to massage the problem.
Currently, the membership site is using a virtual queue when call volume reaches a certain level.
Should you encounter this system, you’ll receive a message notifying you that you’re in the virtual queue.
A warning informs you not to close or refresh the page, lest you lose your place in the queue.
The message goes on to request that if your need isn’t pressing, you should visit the website later.
That’s the politest way Disney can say “It’s hotel reservation time. If you don’t need one, check back later.”
DVC has added this virtual queue at a time when we’re in the 11-month window for October and will add Thanksgiving bookings next week.
The holiday falls on November 24th in 2022, and DVC momentum will remain for another six weeks. The 11-month window within that timeframe will take us into 2023.
In other words, don’t expect this virtual queue system to go away for at least two months.
The First Responders Request More Help
Here’s a controversial topic that the Orlando Sentinel just brought to light. The Reedy Creek Fire Department feels strongly that it is understaffed.
Yes, there’s a lot of that going around right now. Still, at Walt Disney World, a lack of emergency responders can mean the difference between life and death.
To wit, the article cited the death of a woman at a DVC resort. Reportedly, she suffered a heart attack and needed immediate medical attention.
The President of Reedy Creek Firefighters Association indicated that a medical team arrived for treatment within 20 minutes.
Unfortunately, the individual didn’t get an epinephrine treatment until 20 minutes after her party had requested assistance. By that point, she was beyond saving and died.
That’s a frustrating acknowledgment by a Reedy Creek official, as it indicates a systemic failure. He apparently went public as part of an internal dispute.

The union is fighting with the association over staffing, and their argument just went public.
Here’s the explosive quote from the article:
““We’re putting people who are visiting Disney in danger,” said Tim Stromsnes, the union’s communications director.”
The reporter balanced it with a Disney response:
“Disney spokesman Avery Maehrer called the union’s claims about safety at Disney “simply not true.””
So, that’s where we’re at. Frankly, none of us wants to think about or discuss this subject. However, you need to know because it could impact your health.
News and Notes
Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular! has officially reopened at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Here’s video from its first show in 21 months:
Also, the parking lot trams have finally returned at Walt Disney World as well. That should help a lot over the next two weeks.
Another story we’re tracking involves Disney’s Blizzard Beach. According to the park calendar, this water park doesn’t indicate operating hours for January 2nd, 2022.
The other parks have updated for that week, while Blizzard Beach lists a schedule for January 1st. It’s blank after that.
While Disney hasn’t announced anything, some people are speculating that Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon could reopen on that date. I’ll let you know if/when Disney says something.
I’ve got three other tidbits for you. First, Magic Kingdom’s Baby Care Center finally reopened after a prolonged refurbishment.

Also, Bob Iger sent a heartfelt message to his Disney co-workers. His final day with the company is December 31st. You can read the full letter here.
Finally, you should make an effort this week to visit Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, even if you’re not staying there.
The resort’s Jambo House lobby has added a “Ginger-affe.” You can probably figure out what this is.
The resort has gotten into the holiday spirit by creating a gingerbread giraffe model.
Obviously, this structure cannot be made entirely of gingerbread. So, it’s got plenty of white chocolate to boot. Here’s a picture:
