How Does Booking Work with Multiple DVC Contracts?

Once you have more than one DVC contract, booking can sometimes take a little more organization. Depending on whether you buy a contract with the same Use Year and home resort as your existing contract, having more than one contract can impact how you use your points to make resort reservations.
Same Use Year, Same Home Resorts
When you have contracts of the same Use Year and same home resort, they work together fairly seamlessly. Having the same home resort, the points can be used together to make reservations at the 11-month mark.
Same Use Year, Different Home Resorts
With different home resorts, you get the 7-11 month booking window at multiple resorts. However, points are specific to their home resort. For example, if you owned 100 points at the Beach Club and 100 at Saratoga Springs, you couldn’t use all 200 points at the Beach Club at the 7-11 month booking window.

Nevertheless, even with different home resorts, having the same Use Year is still helpful. You can easily use them together at 7 months out or under since they are still under the same DVC Membership. That is, using the example above, at 7 months or less from your check-in date, you could use all 200 Beach Club and Saratoga Springs points to make one reservation.
Different Use Year, Same Home Resorts
Things get a little more complicated when you have contracts with different Use Years. Having different Use Years means that your points are under separate DVC Memberships. This makes it hard to combine points for use together without transferring points from one Membership to the other. While feasible, this requires the extra step of calling Member Services, and you are limited to one transfer in or out of your Membership per Use Year.
Once transferred, points still retain their original home resort and Use Year. This matters when booking and keeping track of expiration dates. For example, if you had two Grand Floridian contracts, one with a February Use Year and another with a June Use Year, you could transfer the 2025 points from one contract to the other. However, the February Use Year points are good for trips from February 1, 2025 to January 31, 2026 while the June Use Year points are good for trips from June 1, 2025 to May 31, 2026.

Different Use Year, Different Home Resorts
With different Use Years and different home resorts, you have the same complexities as the Grand Floridian example above with the added challenge of having different home resort advantages since you have more than one home resort. If you have contracts with different Use Years and different home resorts, it may be best to use them separately since combining points can be cumbersome.
Even after transferring points from one membership to another, you would still have to wait until the 7-month mark to be able to use those points together for one reservation. You could either book entire trips using one contract, or you could consider booking split stays with the first part using one contract and the second part using another.
