DVC Resale Average Sales Prices for August 2020
This article features the average sales price of contracts categorized by resort and month sold from August 2019 through August 2020 by DVC Resale Market (DVCRM). Our goal for this article is to provide great directional information for anyone considering a Disney Vacation Club (DVC) resale purchase or just wanting to satisfy a general curiosity of prices and trends.
Keep in mind that the price of a resort can still easily vary based on the size of the contract in points, the current point availability of the contract (i.e., points current, banked and borrowed) as well as other various factors (i.e., extended Old Key West contracts, subsidized dues contracts, etc.). For example, contracts that are smaller and have higher points availabilities tend to sell for more than the average price per point and vice versa.
DVC Resale Prices Remain Strong
DVC resale prices stayed consistent for the most part in August after reaching all-time high levels in July. Typically, in the Fall, slight dips in pricing occur as demand softens. However, 2020 is certainly an anomaly and traditional seasonality may not hold true. For example, this August, which is historically an average month for sales, was one of the highest selling months in DVCRM history and the 2nd highest month in 2020.
Additionally, Disney entered back into the buying market for resale contracts in August. After 4 straight months of no buy backs, Disney exercised their Right of First Refusal (ROFR) on 22 contracts sold by DVCRM in August. Disney buying again will only act to strengthen an already strong seller’s market.
