Everything We Just Learned about the Disney Destiny

On November 20th, 2025, the Disney Destiny will embark on its maiden voyage. When that happens, the new vessel will become the seventh in the Disney Cruise Line (DCL) fleet. To a larger point, this year qualifies as unprecedented in the history of DCL, as it’s the first time Disney will introduce multiple ships in a matter of months.

A month after the Destiny launches, the Disney Adventure sets sail from its home port in Singapore. So, DCL will expand its fleet by 33 percent over the next eight months. Disney officials have ramped up the hype machine in anticipation of these events, and this has been a big week for cruise news. Here’s everything we just learned about the Disney Destiny.

Disney Reinforces the Theming

The concept of the Disney Destiny is that it’s the ship of Heroes and Villains. As such, every major experience on the cruise involves either a Disney protagonist or the enemy who stands in their way.

In simplest terms, for every Hercules, there’s a Cruella de Vil. So, the ship’s experiences vacillate between exciting encounters with your favorite Disney icons and the terrifying interactions with those who spat in the face of heroism.

You should understand this dichotomy when booking the Destiny, as the spirit of this conflict is everywhere on the cruise. And you’ll know it the moment you step onboard the ship.

The Grand Hall provides a “hero’s welcome,” yet Disney promises an “ever-changing space.” Basically, Disney could modify the appearance on the fly to highlight a specific character or story, ostensibly including films that haven’t even come out yet. In that regard, it’s a lot like Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure, which frequently hypes new Marvel titles.

Disney hints that it can turn the Grand Hall into a spookier façade. The shadowy change may occur whenever one of the Disney Villains appears in the area. The transitional nature of this space will make it more kinetic than all previous Disney cruise ships.

As an example, Loki may appear and claim that it’s his glorious purpose to rule the ship. When that happens, matching effects, presumably green ones, will emphasize the change in mood.

Still, some aspects are permanent such as the Grand Hall’s statue. T’Challa aka the Black Panther will be the signature piece of this ship, with elements of Wakanda visible everywhere. Outside the ship, the hull will feature a shot of Spider-Man and his Spider-Bots “helping” to decorate the stern. So, this ship will be like a permanent version of Marvel Day at Sea.

Disney Reveals the Staterooms and Shows

Disney has promised oversized custom wall art in the staterooms on the Destiny. As usual, the art will go directly above the bed in place of a headboard. And the exciting part is what these action shots display.

For example, one shows Disney Princess Merida aiming her trusty bow as she rides horseback through a forest. The Hercules image shows our hero on Pegasus as he approaches the gates of Olympus. And yes, some of the Muses are visible, too! Mulan is the only Disney champion who isn’t on a horse. She has left hers to the side while she trains in combat.

All these visuals serve the same purpose. They accentuate the Heroes and Villains vibe on the Destiny, even when you’re ready to go to bed.

As for the shows, the new experience is Disney Hercules, which makes a lot of sense. Anyone with familiarity about theme park nighttime presentations knows how much park officials love the song, Go the Distance. And Hercules as a character fits the theme of the Destiny perfectly.

This show will break out all the greatest hits from the movie, promising several show-stopping performances from the Muses. Even better, Disney has dusted off a song called Shooting Star for the production. That’s a piece of music written for the Hercules movie that didn’t make its way into the final cut. So, it’ll be a musical first when the Destiny debuts.

Fitting, the cruise will also feature Frozen: A Musical Spectacular, as Elsa is arguably THE Disney heroine of the moment. You can also watch the ever-popular Disney Seas The Adventure on the Destiny.

More about the Destiny

We learned a few more details about the ship, including its dessert store. Instead of a Vanellope theme, the Destiny will host Edna Á La Mode Sweets. It’ll feature some visually stunning desserts based on characters from The Incredibles, including Edna Mode herself. The images of these desserts went viral almost instantly, speaking to how tasty they look.

As for the rotational dining, the Destiny will host an entirely new restaurant called Pride Lands: Feast of The Lion King. Disney promises that the restaurant will make you feel like you’ve spent the day on the savannah, with windows in the room showing different times of day. To complete the theming, Disney is selling a drink called Can You Feel the Rum Tonight? So, yeah, this place is maximum Lion King.

Finally, park officials revealed more detailed about De Vi’s Piano Lounge, the piano bar themed to the character Cruella de Vil. The Cast Member outfits include a Dalmatian-colored kerchief, which was enough to win me over. But this probably isn’t the top lounge on the ship.

That honor probably belongs to the Sanctum, which is inspired by Dr. Strange’s domicile in the MCU. It’s the place where Strange magically refills Thor’s beer.

For Marvel fans, this spot will be the Marvel equivalent of Star Wars: Hyperspace Lounge. Disney promises several MCU Easter eggs on display here, which is reason enough for many DVC members to want to book.

Speaking of which, when I received the request to write this article today, I had to laugh. I was actually looking at this page yesterday. In a funny coincidence, I took my first Disney cruise last week, and I immediately decided that I’m going back soon.

So, like many of you, I was considering the Disney Cruise Swap program. Members can exchange our DVC Points to book cruises on every DCL ship, including the Destiny. Since this vessel is about to establish a new standard in immersive themed cruising, it’s a no-brainer that you’ll want to go sailing. With the Disney Cruise Swap program, you don’t even need to spend any money. You can just exchange your points! How great is that?!
