Let’s Talk about the Rooms at Disney’s BoardWalk Villas

Disney Vacation Club members know about all the program’s hidden gems. For many years now, one of the favorites has provided convenience in the morning and solace at night.

Whether you want a short walk to EPCOT in the morning or a quick trip home after a fun night at the World Showcase, this resort will take care of you. Let’s talk about the rooms at Disney’s BoardWalk Villas, one of those resorts where everyone should own at least a small DVC contract.

Let’s Talk about the Room Type Options

Before we discuss the rooms themselves, we should acknowledge the three Room Types. While there are technically three, Disney only lists two prices on BoardWalk’s Points Chart. That’s because members decide whether they have a special view or not.

The options are the Standard View rooms, which cost fewer DVC Points, and the Preferred/BoardWalk Views. The latter options cost slightly more, but the splurge is worth it for many members.

First, let’s discuss the difference in DVC Points. A Studio with a Standard View ranges from 24 to 40 points less than a room with a view. The gap grows a bit larger with suites, as some Room Types cost as much as 66 DVC Points more than Standard View.

So, why are DVC members willing to pay extra for these Room Types? Preferred and BoardWalk View provide guests with some of the most unique and engaging perspectives of the surrounding area.

Some of the rooms feature a view of the Luna Park Pool or Crescent Lake. You can enjoy the recently updated pool area, which now mirrors modern Mickey Mouse cartoons. In the surrounding area, you’ll relish watching the boats float through Crescent Lake. Plus, it’s always nice to watch the lighthouse.

Arguably the best view is of the BoardWalk itself, though. Some rooms directly overlook Disney’s BoardWalk, so much so that you can sit on your room’s balcony and converse with people below you on the BoardWalk. This view is absolutely magical, but there is one significant drawback.

BoardWalk View rooms are among the loudest in the DVC library. It’s the small price you pay for being in the thriving BoardWalk district.

Let’s Talk about the Deluxe Studios

The various DVC BoardWalk rooms have undergone refurbishment lately. So, the above video displays the new look of the rooms, all of which are relatively spacious. They offer 359 square feet of space, and you can see that they possess an efficient design.

There’s one oddity as you enter the room. The Studios include a small nook that you’ll appreciate. You can stick your luggage here as soon as you walk in.

Later in your visit, this spot will prove ideal for parking a stroller, presuming you’re traveling with a small child. If not, it’s the place to put a go bag for quick EPCOT visits. Personally, I use it to drop off my stuff after I’ve been shopping at the World Showcase. So, there’s a purpose to this little nook.

Inside the room, the design is fairly conventional. On one side, you’ll find the kitchenette unit, which runs parallel to the bedding.

Across from the kitchenette is the master bathroom, which includes a single sink in the dressing area. That’s something to remember if you’re staying in a maximum occupancy room with five guests. While the room technically sleeps five, getting dressed in the morning could be awkward.

The other thing I’d highlight about these rooms is the artwork. Disney has leaned hard to the new style of Sensational Six cartoon animation. It’s on full display in these rooms, with one painting showing Mickey & Minnie strolling around the hotel. I love these touches of Disney characters acting like DVC members in the illustrations.

Let’s Talk about the One-Bedroom Villas

Our friends at DVC Fan captured video of the new suites at BoardWalk Villas. Something you’ll notice immediately is how homey and inviting these rooms are. The bright colors set the tone that you’re spending a sunny day by the boardwalk during the halcyon days of yore. It’s impressively immersive.

In terms of room size, you can stretch your legs out across 712 square feet of space. Admittedly, these aren’t the biggest One-Bedrooms in the DVC lineup, but they’re still massive by any reasonable vacation expectation.

Also, should note that the official Disney site still indicates these rooms as sleeping four, not five. Larger traveling parties should perhaps counterintuitively choose the Studios, which do sleep five.

Finally, you should remember the two massive advantages in booking a Villa over a Studio. The first is that you’ll gain a full-sized kitchen rather than a kitchenette. Another is that the suite includes a washer-dryer unit. So, you can clean your clothes in the comfort of your hotel room rather than in the publicly shared laundry rooms.

Let’s Talk about the Even Bigger Suites

Finally, we have the Two-Bedroom Villas and the Three-Bedroom Grand Villas. Suffice to say that you’re indulging in luxury when you stay in one of these suits. The hotel offers amenities that cater to your every whim.

Plus, you’ll get the space you need to spread out, no matter how many people stay in the room. The Two-Bedroom Villas host up to nine guests, while the Grand Villas will sleep as many as 12.

The Two-Bedroom Villas offer 1,071 square feet of space, while the Grand Villas allow you to stretch out across 2,142 square feet. Both are designed to encourage large groups of people to enjoy gatherings at Disney. So, you’ll find many lounging areas throughout the suites.

I’m a strong believer that if you’re going to splurge, you shouldn’t do a half-measure. Go big with the Grand Villa! Here’s a recent DVC Fan video that highlights everything you’ll find in the suite.

You should keep in mind the cost difference, though. You’ll spend more than double the DVC Points on a Grand Villa as opposed to a Two-Bedroom Villa. I point this out as a way of demonstrating that the value of the Two-Bedroom Villas is surprisingly strong. You really can’t go wrong with any of the suites or the Studios at BoardWalk Villas!
