Pros and Cons of DVC Deluxe Studios

With the capacity to accommodate up to 4 or 5 guests, Deluxe Studios are typically the most popular DVC room type to book. Besides being the least amount of points, they are available at nearly every DVC resort except for the Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness. Here are the pros and cons of DVC Deluxe Studios.
Pros
Kitchenette
Deluxe Studios are more than just glorified hotel rooms! One of the biggest differences is the addition of a kitchenette that includes a mini fridge, microwave, toaster, and coffee maker. They also have plates, bowls, cups, and utensils. It’s just enough to make a quick breakfast, heat up leftovers, or make a simple snack or meal.

Balcony
With the exception of some Deluxe Studios at the Villas at Disneyland Hotel, most have a balcony. Balconies are the perfect spot for a relaxing start to your day with a mug of coffee or even a great place to unwind at the end of the day. Although the Theme Park View Deluxe Studios at Bay Lake Tower and the Polynesian are stunning, there are lots of other underrated views, such as those at the Grand Floridian, BoardWalk, and Animal Kingdom Lodge.

Split Bathrooms for Some
Most Deluxe Studios have either a shower or a tub/shower combo, but a few of them have a split bathroom, which gives you both. That extra shower is helpful in giving you more space to get ready for a day in the parks. You’ll find the split bathrooms in the Deluxe Studios at the Grand Floridian, Polynesian longhouses, and Riviera.

Cons
Less Privacy
With a studio, the living area and sleeping area are all in one room, so there is much less privacy compared to the villas that have one or more separate bedrooms. Depending on your travel party, the configuration of a Deluxe Studio may not be the most comfortable option.

More Competitive Availability
Since Deluxe Studios tend to be the most popular room type to book, they are also quick to book up. This is especially true of Deluxe Studios at resorts like Copper Creek and the Grand Californian where studio inventory is limited. At these resorts, home resort advantage can really matter when it comes to snagging a Deluxe Studio for the dates that you want.

Fewer Amenities
While the Deluxe Studios have more amenities compared to regular hotel rooms, they do have fewer amenities compared to other DVC room types. Larger rooms such as the One Bedroom Villas, Two Bedroom Villas, and Three Bedroom Villas have a full kitchen with a stove, oven, and refrigerator. It’s fully stocked with dishes, pots, pans, and utensils to make meals. These larger villas also have washers and dryers whereas studios only have access to washers and dryers in the complimentary laundry rooms.
