The Best Times to Book a DVC Stay at Disney World

Once you have your DVC contract and your points are loaded, it’s so exciting to book a stay! When it comes to getting the most out of your points, when you travel makes a big difference in how many points per night are needed. Here’s a look at some of the best travel periods to stretch your points while enjoying different seasonal events at Disney World, lower crowds, or better weather.
Early December
The beginning of December is not the most popular time to travel to Disney World for most guests. However, for DVC Members this is probably the most popular time of the year to visit as it is the perfect combination of low points, holiday celebrations, and more comfortable weather! While this makes early December a very competitive time to book a room, it’s a great time to enjoy the EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays, go to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party or Jollywood Nights, or visit the resorts to see all the holiday decorations. Just be sure to book your room as early as possible!

September
If you can handle the hot, humid weather of late summer in Florida, September is the cheapest travel period. For DVC Members, this means getting a longer stay for fewer points! With many schools back in session, the crowds at the theme parks tend to not be as large. In September, there is still time to catch the EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival and Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party.

January
January is the second cheapest travel period for DVC points. With the exception of Marathon Weekend, which is often the first full week of January, and Martin Luther King Jr. weekend, January tends to be slightly quieter at the theme parks, and the weather can be mild or even a bit chilly (by Florida standards). If you visit in mid- to late-January, you’ll be there just in time for the EPCOT International Festival of the Arts, the shortest of all the EPCOT festivals.

May Into Early June
When the points charts were adjusted a few years ago, May into early June emerged as another travel period with low point values. In fact, it’s now just as low as early December. Although the weather can get quite warm this time of year, it isn’t typically as brutally hot and humid as July and August. If you travel by the first week of June, you’ll usually make it for the beautiful EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival.
