Fun DVC Split Stay Combinations to Try

Split stays are a good way to try out more than one resort in a single trip!  For example, you can combine a Magic Kingdom resort with an EPCOT resort to be close to the different theme parks throughout your trip.  You can also stay at more than one resort to enjoy different theming and amenities since each resort is unique.  Here are some fun combinations of DVC resorts to try for your next trip to Walt Disney World.

For Pool Fans

If pooltime is a priority, then the Beach Club and Polynesian make a perfect pair.  The Beach Club is known for its 3-acre pool, Stormalong Bay, with its sand bottom, lazy river, whirlpool spas, elevated tanning deck, cabanas, and 230-foot shipwreck-themed waterslide.  If a more laid back pool is more your style, Beach Club guests have access to 3 leisure pools at the Beach Club and Yacht Club (the Beach Club’s sister resort).

There’s lots of pool time fun to be had at the Polynesian with its 3 pools!  At the resort’s feature pool, the Lava Pool, you’ll find a volcano, waterfall, and 142-foot water slide.  The nearby Oasis Pool is a leisure pool with Oasis Patios that are available to rent.  The Polynesian’s newest pool is the zero entry Cove Pool at the Island Tower that has great fireworks views at night!  If you have any little ones in your travel party, they’ll love Moana’s Voyage at the Island Tower, which is a splash pad complete with a life-size sculpture of Moana and her canoe.

Moana’s Voyage

On your theme park days, getting around is easy!  You can easily walk or take the Friendship boat to get to EPCOT or Hollywood Studios from the Beach Club.  You can then take the monorail or boat to Magic Kingdom from the Polynesian.

For a Luxe Stay

The Grand Floridian and Riviera are the most luxurious feeling resorts among those owned and operated by Disney.  At the Victorian-inspired Grand Floridian, the decor is elegant, and you have some of the best signature dining on property with Victoria & Albert’s, Narcoosee’s, and Citricos.  For a little self indulgence, visit the Grand Floridian Spa for a massage or treatment, or treat yourself to private dining.  It’s currently the only Disney resort to offer these amenities.

Riviera One Bedroom Villa

The European-inspired Riviera offers stylish rooms with a sprinkle of Disney magic woven into its decor and art collection.  From the Peter Pan and Tangled tile murals by the Skyliner station to the lush landscaping, Riviera has a modern, understated elegance.  While at Riviera, you can treat yourself to Topolino’s Terrace for signature French and Italian cuisine, such as Classic Sole Meunière, Bouillabaisse, and Chicken Sugo Rigatoni, as well as beautiful fireworks views of Luminous from the terrace.

Like the Beach Club and Polynesian, the Grand Floridian and Riviera offer convenient transportation options for the theme parks.  For EPCOT or Hollywood Studios, hop aboard the Skyliner from the Riviera.  From the Grand Floridian, the Magic Kingdom is just a monorail ride, boat ride, or short walk away!

For a Peaceful Stay

Sometimes all you really want is a little peace and quiet for your Disney vacation.  A split stay with Copper Creek and Saratoga Springs can offer just that.  Both resorts offer a bit of respite while still being close enough to all the action.  At Copper Creek, you’re only a boat ride away from the Magic Kingdom, but the quiet atmosphere at Wilderness Lodge with its pine trails and cozy fireplace nooks makes you feel like you are away from all the hustle and bustle.  If you truly want some privacy, you can stay in one of the standalone Cascade Cabins that offer a full kitchen and a private deck with a hot tub.

Copper Creek Cascade Cabin

With its sprawling grounds near the golf course greens, Saratoga Springs is one of the most tranquil DVC resorts, especially among those at Disney World.  It’s the perfect escape from the crowds of the theme parks.  For the quietest accommodations, try the elevated cabin-like Three Bedroom Treehouse Villas.  While Saratoga Springs may feel remote, the nearby dining and shopping district at Disney Springs is still easily accessible by boat.

For the Resort-only Stay

Split stays are great even if you want a resort-only vacation.  A combination of Animal Kingdom Lodge and the Cabins at Fort Wilderness offers so many recreational activities that you won’t miss the parks!  The highlight of Animal Kingdom Lodge is seeing the incredible animals on the savannas, and there are a few different ways to learn more about them, including the Starlight Safari, night vision devices at Kidani Village, and animal enrichment with an Animal Keeper by the Uzima Overlook.  The resort also hosts many activities such as painting, African mosaic art, crafts, and a community hall.

Uzima Savanna at Jambo House

When staying at the Cabins at Fort Wilderness, enjoy the great outdoors!  Unique to the resort is Tri-Circle D Ranch where you can visit the horses you often see in the Magic Kingdom, take little ones on pony rides, and go for horseback trail rides.  There are also activities like canoe and kayak rentals, fishing, and archery.  It’s like all the fun of summer camp!
