Disney Announces 2024 Halloween Details

We’re officially #HalfwaytoHalloween, something that has become a sort of holiday for Disney fans. The marketing department uses early May as a launch window to reveal upcoming Halloween events. On Monday, May 6th, Disney announced its Halloween details. Here’s what you need to know.

Here Are the Dates for Your Favorite Halloween Party

Every year, Disney’s #HalfwaytoHalloween proclamation grows grander. For 2024, there’s even a four-minute YouTube video you can watch:

If that didn’t get you in the Halloween mood, you and I are very different people. Thankfully, Halloween isn’t that far away, as Disney is starting the party even earlier than usual.

Magic Kingdom will host the first Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party (MNSSHP) on August 9th, which is two days earlier than in 2023. However, the party will end on Halloween in 2024 rather than in early November. Here are this year’s confirmed dates:

  • August 9th, 13th, 16th, 20th, 23rd, 27th, 30th
  • September 2nd, 6th, 8th, 10th, 13th, 15th, 17th, 20th, 22nd, 24th, 26th, 27th, 29th
  • October 1st, 3rd, 4th, 6th, 8th, 10th, 11th, 14th, 15th, 17th, 18th, 20th, 21st, 24th, 25th, 27th, 29th, 31st

That’s a total of seven dates in August, 13 in September, and 18 in October. As usual, the event will start at 7 PM EST and last through midnight. Guests with MNSSHP admission can enter Magic Kingdom as early as 4 PM EST on the date of the event.

Here Are Party Ticket Details

This year’s MNSSHP tickets start at $119 per person and max out at $199 per person. As usual, annual passholders and qualifying Disney Vacation Club members can save $10 per ticket. The catch is that you must buy tickets for August and September. You won’t receive the discount in October anymore.

Also, tickets go on sale for some people on May 8th, which is Wednesday! According to the official Disney website, “Guests of select Walt Disney World Resort hotels can begin purchasing Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party tickets as early as May 8, 2024. All other Guests may purchase tickets beginning on May 15, 2024.”

In other words, those who already have a hotel reservation for one of the MNSSHP dates can book on Wednesday. Everyone else must wait until the following Wednesday. That extra week signifies a competitive advantage.

I say this because last year’s events sold out entirely. In fact, the final few dates sold out by Labor Day. Generally, opening night/week and Halloween book the quickest. So, if you have your choice of dates, those should be your specific priorities.

As an aside, Disney has also posted its costume policy. Everything appears to work the same as last year. Since so many people dress up for the Halloween event, it’s important to know the rules.

Here Are This Year’s Details

Disney is advertising something old and something new for this year’s MNSSHP. On July 12th, a new movie called Descendants: The Rise of Red will debut. So, this year’s party will feature a tie-in called the DescenDANCE Party. It’s a villain dance party if you’re unfamiliar with the Descendants franchise.

Not coincidentally, this year’s event will feature more Disney Villains character interactions and photo ops. To counterbalance the evildoers, Mickey & Minnie Mouse will get new costumes as well. Also, Bruno and Mirabel will hold court at their Casita in Fairytale Garden.

As an FYI, Disney is also hosting Mickey’s Boo-To-You Halloween Parade at an earlier time in 2024. Unfortunately, Disney didn’t say when, just that it’ll be earlier.

We also know that the Hocus Pocus Villain Spectacular will return, and Disney will add Halloween ride overlays again as well. The overlay attractions are Mad Tea Party, Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor, and Space Mountain.

Finally, Disney has posted some of the Halloween merchandise it’ll sell this year. The highlights include “viral Mickey Mouse pumpkins,” which are quite adorable. Importantly, you don’t need to visit the party to buy them. They’ll be available on DisneyStore.com.

We’ve nearly made it to Halloween season, everyone! Be ready to buy tickets on Wednesday so that you can spend Halloween with Mickey & Minnie
