What You Can Expect at DVC in 2024

By the time you read this, the calendar will have flipped to 2024. It’s a new year with updated goals and more than a few resolutions you may or may not achieve. While you plan to live your best life, the Disney Vacation Club will remain dependable but surprising. Here’s what you can expect at DVC in 2024.

Disney Will Open New Cabins

Let’s be honest that two DVC events matter more than all the rest this year. Specifically, DVC will open two “new” resorts, both of which date back to the 1970s.

The Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort should arrive this summer. When they do, members will finally scratch an itch that has existed for decades now.

Fort Wilderness Campground represents one of the most storied parts of Disney’s history. Its DVC roots run deep as well. Many members have spent time here exploring the campground.

The Tri-Circle-D Ranch has entertained generations of families with its unique escapism. Disney built a dude ranch a short boat ride away from Magic Kingdom. Meanwhile, the Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue dinner show has charmed DVC members for decades now.

Then, we have the other amenities like the holiday golf cart parades and the cookouts. It’s a decidedly different kind of Disney vacation experience, and those who love it often become evangelists about Fort Wilderness.

In a few months, probably during the summer, the DVC Cabins will open for the first time. As a reminder, while this campground has hosted Cabins for many years now, the DVC ones are new for 2024. DVC reconstructed the former Cabins to make them more energy-efficient and spacious.

Artist’s renderings of these rooms emphasize the aesthetic at Fort Wilderness. They show rustic interiors offset by outdoor activities just beyond the Cabin door. You can grill or enjoy a picnic when you want to be outside. Then, on rainy days, you can hole up in your Cabin, which appears to be a smaller variant of the Treehouse Villas at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa.

Everything about this project delights me, as it exemplifies the best of DVC. The reboot of the Cabins reflects Disney’s desire to provide cozy accommodations at long-established Walt Disney World locales. And please don’t forget that when you stay here, you can take that short boat ride to Magic Kingdom. You’re mixing classic elements of a typical Disney vacation with the novelties of a glamping trip.

Disney Will Open an Expansion Tower

If you’ve read my writing for a while now, you know one simple truth about me. I’m devout about Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

My sister and I stood in the Great Ceremonial House as kids and made one of those ridiculous promises children make. We swore we’d live in the Polynesian one day. Now, thanks to the DVC program, I kinda do.

A few years ago, Disney finally granted the wishes of many DVC members like me when it added an ownership interest at the Polynesian. More recently, Disney surprised fans again by announcing an expansion tower coming to the resort’s campus.

Disney’s illustrations suggest a multi-level standalone building that’s waterfront. Even better, many rooms will face Magic Kingdom, turning a large percentage of the hotel inventory into Theme Park View offerings.

We also know that the new facility will include a pool, complete with Pool View rooms, and a family-friendly splashpad area. Floorplans suggest that we’ll get Studios, One- and Two-Bedroom Villas and Two-Bedroom Lockoff Villas.

Of course, the best part is what DVC just confirmed. Disney will add the Polynesian expansion tower’s inventory to the existing Condominium Association agreement. In other words, Polynesian owners have already purchased a piece of the expansion tower! You don’t need to do anything else, as you’ve already bought an ownership interest here.

Disney forecasts a late 2024 opening for the expansion tower. So, we’ll learn more about inventory and amenities later this year. Presuming everything goes well, DVC members will book rooms at this expansion tower sooner rather than later. That’s reason enough to be excited about DVC in 2024!
